Health Advocacy Project at VCU Mission: To enact tangible improvements in community health by advocating for healthcare reform.

We hope to enact tangible improvements in our community’s health by advocating for health care reform. One goal is to promote policies, programs, and initiatives that can improve the lives of the disadvantaged and medically underserved. By focusing on the social determinants of health, we hope to cause an increase in positive health outcomes throughout a population. We hope to focus on a variety o

f such issues at the campus, local, state, national, and global level. Another goal of this organization is to empower students of all backgrounds to promote positive change in their communities in a successful manner by teaching them skills relevant to community engagement, communication, and leadership

VCU Health Issues Forum Call for Submissions:

Health Advocacy Project at VCU hosts the second annual VCU Health Issues Forum on October 13 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the VCU Student Commons Theater. Proposals are due on September 21 and can be submitted via email to [email protected]. This event will be organized as a series of presentations by VCU student organizations or faculty members. Each presenter will address a specific issue affecting the world today. Speaking at this event can provide your club or academic department with many benefits, including increased awareness of your issue, more publicity for your organization, and the opportunity to present at an official event. Your members will also learn more about different issues and be motivated to address these problems comprehensively.

In your proposal, please include the following information:
-Name of student organization or academic department
-Health issue to be discussed
-Names of individuals presenting
-Short synopsis of presentation (please limit to 100 words)

As you create your proposals, please make sure that some members of your organization are available to attend the entire event and are willing to present. Presentations will be approximately 15-20 minutes and followed by a question-and-answer period.Contact [email protected] for more information.
