“In mindfulness one is not only restful and happy, but alert and awake. Meditation is not evasion; it is a serene encounter with reality.” - Thich Nhat Hanh..
The goal of our curriculum-based programs has always been to teach and implement mindfulness and movement techniques to increase the ability to be present. That still stands today. This week try to include mindfulness practices in between your everyday tasks. Go through the things on your desk that have served their purpose and are no longer needed. Implore a bit of meditative art and open up your mind so that you can increase awareness.

Don’t let your days just continue to go by, live them out and enjoy each moment!

“The way to live in the present is to remember that ‘This too shall pass.’ When you experience joy, remembering that ‘This too shall pass’ helps you savor the here and now. When you experience pain and sorrow, remembering that ‘This too shall pass’ reminds you that grief, like joy, is only temporary.”– Joey Green

This month has been truly a new experience and one that we will remember for the years to come. Let’s think about how we can grow during this time. Continue to practice mindfulness daily and make time for meditation. Today, let's practice being present. Become fully emerged in your activities, but also be forgiving to yourself when your mind wanders. One of the greatest benefits of mindfulness is that it makes it easier to enjoy and savor the pleasures that life brings. Savor the moments that we are experiencing right now and the moments following...

Over the past few months, we have been able to open up a discussion about mindfulness at many of our school partners, to include Blackwell Elementary School. We’ve led professional developments with the teachers that introduced mindful-based strategies for self care, classroom support and relationship building that benefit teachers, students and school environment. After weeks of didactic and experiential workshops, we created space for yoga and mindfulness practice on the mat. We encourage supporthin the school environment, and most importantly, encourage teachers to give themselves permission to take care of themselves outside of the school environment.

This past week we worked with the faculty and staff at St. Catherine’s School. Our Founder, Ashley Williams, led a Yoga Nidra and community friend, Natasha Freeman, led a sound bath. A sound bath is a meditation technique that consists of the unifying of various sounds including gongs, chimes and Himalayan singing bowls that are meant to rest you mentally and physically. Our Mindfulness + Movement program intends to create a space where participants have the ability to move away from daily classroom responsibilities and prepare themselves to practice mindfulness. In our commUNITY, we conclude our practice with relaxation and integration, which invites the practice of self- reflection and centeredness as the final aspect of an individual’s yoga experience.

With this winter giving us heavy spring vibes, let's remember to give our whole body the necessary attention it needs. It is important to rest and relax the energy of the mind and body here at Mindfulness + Movement. We encourage the active monitoring of our mental and physical wellbeing within our commUNITY.

Check in with yourself after practice and share the effect it has on you. Interested in sharing this practice with your work environment? Ask us how.

Mindfulness + Movement works with various schools, corporations and programs that spend a grand portion of their day inside buildings, both sitting and standing, while vigorously working their minds. Through this program, we teach the tools needed in order to come back to your body. Breathe, reach within yourself and allow time outside of your mental concrete schedules to help you be the best version of you! ...
Go and soak up some Vitamin D this week and tell us how it affects your mood!..
