Camp Kidable is an inclusive half-day summer camp to promote skills in a fun and supportive environment.

This year, the activities are designed and led by an OT + SLP team to promote sensory, motor, social, communication, and play skills.

No therapy experience or formal diagnoses required to have fun here!

Expect to build, climb, and create in a low-demand and highly-personalized play environment. 🏗️🧗🏻‍♀️🎨

There is also time to enjoy a snack outdoors (families provide their own snacks and water bottle, though back-up snacks are available at the Kidable Clubhouse).

Groups are kept small and sensory breaks are incorporated, as needed. Brief daily reports are provided on your portal profile 🤗

Kidable’s Summer Speech Series is the specialized plan of care to support speech and language skills over the summer break for families in the Roanoke, Salem, and Blacksburg areas.

We know it’s hard to find an afterschool speech time throughout the NRV. Kidable has a new way to help!

Kidable’s Summer Speech Series includes an evaluation with weekly (or twice a week) speech sessions throughout June & July to support speech and language skills.

We can meet with your child where it’s convenient for you — home, summer program, or even at the Kidable Clubhouse.

We can’t wait to see you at Camp Kidable this summer!! ☀️😎

Camp Kidable is an inclusive half-day summer camp designed and led by an occupational therapist and a speech language pathologist.

Your child will play, grow, and connect in a fun and supportive environment. Spots are limited - keeping a smaller group of participants helps to keep activities tailored to bring joy and confidence to each participant.

⭐️Registration instructions:⭐️
1. Head to the Kidable Clubhouse booking page - kidable.janeapp.com/locations/kidable-clubhouse/book

2. Click the “View Availability by Month” button (top left)

3. Scroll through the calendar to June/July until you see the camp dates. The calendar only shows the first day of camp.

4. Week 1 is listed under Nina’s name on the client portal; Week 2 is listed under Kayla’s name on the client portal. Both camps are co-led by these awesome therapists.

5. Click on the date/therapist name that matches the camp of your choice.

6. Click on the blue box for the camp that shows up on the calendar.

7. The client portal will display a pop up that says “You’re not done yet” — make sure to hit “continue” to complete registration.

8. Sign in to your account or create a new profile. If you are completing a new profile, please make sure to register using your child’s name/birthday and your contact info (email/phone).

9. Complete the registration form. Once fully registered, your child is automatically enrolled for the remaining days of camp.

Please remember that the registration fee is non-refundable. The fee will be accepted during registration and applied on the first day of camp.

🌟 We are excited to expand our support to families in Culpeper, Warrenton, Manassas, and Gainesville. 🌟

Our mobile services will be bringing personalized, play-based OT directly to your child’s home, school, or community space to build sensory, motor, emotional, cognitive, and play skills.

We also hope to expand our speech services in the near future!

Wow!! This year, our focus has been on growing our Kidable team and supporting our Kidable families — without much energy towards marketing or promoting our small business. We did not even realize until the end of the year that Kidable won 🏆 GOLD 🏆 for Roanoke’s best occupational therapists!!

We are so honored to receive this award through Community Votes. Thank you so very much for all the love and support this year!! We love our Kidable community!! ♥️💕

Side note - this award platform doesn’t have a category for best speech language pathologists. If it did, I fully believe our phenomenal SLPs would have won an award too!!

Any messages sent to Kidable during this time may not reach the team in a timely manner. Though daily checks will be attempted, there is no guarantee for a response until the office re-opens on Sunday, Dec 28th.

Payment processing for treatment sessions may also be delayed during this time.

If you have an appointment during this time and need to make changes, please contact your therapist directly.

If you do not have access to your therapist and need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please email [email protected] at least one day before your appointment. The team email is not monitored consistently, but updates to this email will help prevent cancellation fees.

❄️ We want to make sure your family and the Kidable therapists feel safe and supported when winter weather hits. ❄️

Please follow these guidelines this winter season if snow and/or ice is expected:

1️⃣ Message your OT or SLP the day before your appointment to let them know if the roads near your home may not be safe. Your therapist is also encouraged to message you when they are aware about potentially unsafe weather, but if you haven’t heard from them and it’s on your mind, definitely give them a text or call. If you do not have their contact information, reach out to [email protected] or 540-315-3210 to discuss appointment plans.

2️⃣ Identify a back-up plan in case it is not safe to have your appointment. It’s great to plan an alternative option if you or the therapist feel it may not be safe to get to your home, the child’s school, or the clubhouse space. The most common options include: reschedule for a later time/date, coordinate a virtual session or a caregiver coaching call instead, determine a new location, or cancel and pick up at the next scheduled appointment.

3️⃣ Confirm the plan on the day of the appointment. Once snow or ice is on the ground (or not), please collaborate with your therapist to determine if it is safe for your typical appointment or if it is best to follow through with your back-up plan.

☃️ Following these steps helps to reduce last-minute stress related to weather decisions. Giving a notice the day before also prevents day-of cancellation charges.

We understand winter weather can be unexpected and will try to avoid any cancellation charges related to unforeseen weather concerns.

🚙 If your therapist has confirmed an in-person appointment when winter weather strikes, please consider that the appointment may not start on time. We need our therapists to be safe — and not rushing — while driving. 🚙
If your therapist arrives late, they will either stay later to fulfill the time commitment or Kidable will reduce your session rate to reflect the shorter session.
