I will tell the hummingbird story another day, but IYKYK.
The other day, in thinking of my hummingbird visits from dad at formative times in my life, I was noticing a feeling of loss, of missing that connection, if only briefly, to what I consider my dad’s spirit.
Today on my noon walk with my furry beast Shelby, something stopped me with an unmistakable nudge to look down, and there I saw this ladybug. Not on the chunk of cardboard 10 minutes ago on our first pass through our hedged walkway, but here now.
"Hello"
I invited our new friend inside with an offer of the leaf, introduced to the family, offered a drink of water and set them back where I found them. Later, upon viewing the photo, the blob of blue light, not noticeable when taking the picture, seems prominent: intended, invited and amplified by the reflection upon the ladybug. Hi dad.
Thank you to our new winged neighbor for a little mindful break 🐞. May you find a slower pace and invite the gift of wonder into your Friday ✨
