✨ TEXTURE ✨

There are two ways to create the *illusion of texture* in an eyebrow tattoo.

1) Hair Strokes. ✍🏼 Can be created by a microblading or nano brow (machine) technique; the goal of this method is to create lines or strokes that mimic hairs. Spacing is important when using a hair stroke method - the “skin breaks” (spaces where skin shows between tattooed hair strokes) are what maintain the illusion of texture.
Often times clients will want to layer more hair strokes on top of strokes to create more coverage in the brow, not realizing the skin breaks are what keep the brows looking textured. When we layer too many strokes on top of each other, we lose the texture and may end up with a more solid brow.
The hair stroke technique is the most obvious one people think of when imagining how to create “texture” in a brow. Microblading is not suitable for many skin types, and while nano strokes can be done on most skin types, the strokes and texture still may blend slightly on oily skin types over time.

2) Pixels. 🟤 Powder brows (or ombré, or pixels brows) are created by layering thousands of tiny dots or pixels into the brow to shade them in. When layered in a way that mimics density of a natural brow (ie- more tightly layered into the bottom of the brow or tail, and more loosely layered into the tops and fronts), the pixels can create the illusion of texture in a brow. We can control the saturation of a brow the most with this method, using as few or as many pixels we want to fill the brow in.
We can also use pixels (or shading) to add coverage to a brow that has hair strokes (nano or microblading) in it if we are feeling like the hair strokes are not “enough” for the brow. Using shading to create coverage in hair stroke brows instead of layering more strokes on top of strokes ensures that we still keep the texture in the brow.
Powder brows are good for almost any skin type and softly fade over time. At maintenance sessions we layer pixels back into the brow to build them back up.

Today marks exactly one year since we closed escrow on our new studio property! It was a long and crazy process, with the remodel construction ending mid March, and it took us the summer to get fully settled in.

Hi friends! Please help us welcome a new member to our studio!

Margaret () took her first Permanent Makeup course in February 2020 and fell in love immediately. She was always very picky about her own eyebrows, and has loved makeup and the beauty industry since a young age. She became a licensed Tattoo Artist in November 2020, then went to Esthetician school in 2021 to further her knowledge of the skin and provide brow waxing services for her clients.

She specializes in custom brows (both Ombre, Combo, or Nano tattoo brows, and wax, tint, & lamination), lip blush tattoo, eyeliner tattoo, and saline removal.

She truly enjoys furthering her education and learning more about tattooing and beauty. She also supervises and supports new artists as they start their journeys in the Permanent Makeup industry with apprenticeships — something she’s become super passionate about in 2025!
