September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
• It is estimated that 313,780 new cases of prostate cancer are expected to be diagnosed in 2025 in the United States.
• Incidence rates have been increasing, due to advance state diagnosis; however, with early detection, the 5-year survival rate for prostate cancer diagnosed in its earliest stage is 99%.
As with most cancers, early diagnosis is important in treatment options and positive survival rates. Prostate cancer often has no early symptoms. Through effective screening options, the disease is often detected before it spreads; therefore, survival rates are good for this type of cancer.
Peninsula Imaging has received the American College of Radiology Prostate Cancer MRI Designation. They also have advanced software which is utilized to assist with clinical diagnosis and surgical planning.
