No crowds. No line of jeeps jockeying for the same lion. Just us, the wild, and Kenya the way it's meant to be experienced. To be in a crowded tourist jeep like this would ruin the experience for me.

The most extraordinary wildlife moments aren't unfolding in the famous parks at all. They're happening in the private conservancies β€” and most travelers don't even know they exist.

Fewer vehicles. More space. Wildlife that behaves like you're not there. We spent whole mornings with no one else in sight, watching Kenya wake up on its own terms. That's the difference a conservancy makes β€” luxury measured in solitude, not just in thread count.

If you've ever dreamed of a safari but pictured yourself elbow-to-elbow with twenty other jeeps, this one's for you. There's another way to do it.

πŸ‘£ The Most Comfortable Travel Sandals for Women (2026) β€” 18 Tested Picks!

Link to The Most Comfortable Travel Sandals for Women (2026) is in my Link In Bio.

Your feet do the heavy lifting on every trip β€” from the first cobblestone street to the last mile of a long airport day. So I tested every one of these before it earned a spot in my suitcase. πŸ‘Ÿ

Most sandals are basically one step above walking barefoot. The ones below have the real stuff: genuine arch support, cushioned footbeds, and secure straps so your toes aren't clenching all day just to keep them on.

Whether you're covering a European old town, padding across a boat deck, or heading to the beach, there's a supportive, podiatrist-approved pick here for you. 🌍

Standing in the farm at Lewa Conservancy in northern Kenya, watching rows of crops thrive where the land meets the wild β€” this is a side of Lewa most safari-goers never see.

Everyone comes to Lewa Wildlife Conservancy for the rhinos and the Grevy's zebras (and yes, they're spectacular). But tucked into this 62,000-acre sanctuary at the foot of Mount Kenya is something quietly revolutionary: a working farm teaching sustainable agriculture to the communities that surround it.

Touring the farm, you see conservation from a whole new angle. Lewa now works with more than 5,880 local farmers, introducing climate-smart methods like drip irrigation, water harvesting, organic fertilizers, and drought-resistant seeds. The idea is simple and powerful β€” when farming families thrive, wildlife thrives too. Protecting the land and feeding the people aren't competing goals here. They're the same goal.

Walking those rows, meeting the people growing real food with real innovation, you understand why Lewa is a global model for community-based conservation. It's not just about saving animals behind a fence. It's about building a future where people and wildlife win together.

If you're planning a Kenya safari, carve out time for the behind-the-scenes farm tour. The Big Five will take your breath away β€” but this is the story that stays with you.

Exploring the San Juan Islands by boat is one of the Pacific Northwest's greatest adventures, and our latest trip took us to two very different anchorages: the wild, misty solitude of Sucia Island and the lively harbor town of Roche Harbor.

Over several days, we anchored beneath Sucia's dramatic sandstone cliffs, hiked fog-draped trails, and took after-dinner dinghy rides to catch unforgettable sunsets. From there, we cruised to bustling Roche Harbor, where island history and waterfront energy offered the perfect contrast.

Whether you're a boater, hiker, or traveler dreaming of the San Juans, here's a look at our journey through two of Washington's most beautiful island destinations β€” with Teddi on Tour along for every mile.

This beige fall dress is the easiest, most on-trend piece I've styled all season!

This packable beige dress styles with everything from sneakers to knee-high boots, and I'm already obsessed. This color is such a classy, on-trend pick for the season, which makes it a perfect travel-and-everyday piece.

Here's how I'm styling it for that easy, put-together fall look that works for coffee runs, errands, travel days, or a cozy day out.

I picked three different shoes so you can dress it up or down depending on where the day takes you.

The Chelsea boots are that classic, comfortable fall staple. The Nike Air Force is the crisp white classic that pairs with dresses and jeans alike.

The Veja Campo is a minimalist white leather sneaker with a small side logo if you want a more elevated everyday option.

And to dress it all the way up, the knee-high boots add a little height and polish while keeping the look sleek and on-trend.

A layered gold necklace is the perfect finishing touch.

Which shoe would you style it with? Drop a comment and let me know. Save this post for your fall outfit inspo and follow along for more travel and lifestyle finds.

Sucia Island Kenmore Air Crash Site: Hiking to Shallow Bay Where All 11 Survived

Today we hiked around Shallow Bay on Sucia Island and found the site of the July 23, 2026 Kenmore Air crash.

Charred rock, scattered debris, remnants left behind. It's a strange, quiet thing to stand there and take in.

All 11 people aboard survived that day, and standing on that beach, that's the part that stays with you.

A powerful reminder of how fast things can change out here, and how much the boaters and first responders who showed up that evening mattered.

Adventure mode: activated!

We're casting off aboard Little Bear for a week of exploring Washington's San Juan Islands β€” first stop Sucia Island, then on to beautiful Roche Harbor on San Juan Island.

This trip is extra special because our 6-month-old Havanese, Teddi of .on.tour, is joining us for her very first overnight boating adventure. Expect salt air, stunning Salish Sea anchorages, marine wildlife, and one very excited puppy learning the ropes.

Whether you love Pacific Northwest boating, San Juan Islands travel, or you're just here for the adorable dog content, follow along all week as we share our journey.

Have you been to Sucia Island or Roche Harbor? Drop a comment and tell us your favorite San Juans anchorage!

Booking your flights on a Tuesday? In 2026, that habit might be costing you money. ✈️

Expedia released its annual Air Hacks Report, built on millions of real bookings, and it quietly killed one of travel's oldest rules. The "always book on Tuesday" advice we've all followed for years? Done.

Here's what actually works now:

Friday is the new cheapest day to book. Sunday is the most expensive.

Tuesday is still the cheapest day to FLY domestically, about 14% below a Sunday departure.

The booking sweet spot is 2 to 4 weeks out, NOT six months. Booking too early literally costs you more.

August and January are the cheapest months to travel. December is the priciest, no surprise.
None of these need a bigger budget. Just a little flexibility, which is exactly how I plan every trip I take. Small changes, real savings.

I broke the full report down into one simple cheat sheet on the blog, with the exact booking windows and the dollar amounts you'll save on domestic and international fares. Read it before you book your next trip. πŸ‘‰ https://www.myactivenutrition.com/blog/cheapest-day-to-book-flights-in-2026-expedias-air-hacks-report

If travel tips like this are your thing, give my page a follow so you don't miss the next one. I'm always testing what actually works before I pack.

Which of these surprised you most? Tell me in the comments. πŸ‘‡

Gate agents are measuring bags now. πŸ“ And that "carry-on size" suitcase you've had for years? A lot of them measure 23 or 24 inches once the wheels count, and that's the one getting pulled while the whole line watches.

The rules didn't change for 2026. The enforcement did.

The magic number is 22 x 14 x 9 inches, wheels and handles included, on American, Delta, United, JetBlue, and Alaska. Get flagged and you're gate-checking your bag for anywhere from $50 to $100.

So I dug into the specs and pulled together 6 bags that measure a true 22 x 14 x 9 or smaller, straight from the manufacturer, from the flight-crew-favorite Travelpro to the buy-it-for-life Briggs & Riley.

Three things that save you at the gate:

✈️ Never fly with your bag expanded. Expanded = oversized.
✈️ Measure YOUR bag wheel-bottom to handle-top. Don't trust the tag.
✈️ Flying to Europe? The size boxes are even smaller over there.

Full list and every dimension is on the blog.
