Today is a special day in my world.

My sister and my daughter share this birthday.

God designed us for connection. He said from the very beginning, it is not good for man to be alone. We were wired for belonging. For community. For the kind of relationship that holds us without requiring us to perform.

Sometimes rest is a table full of people you love. A shared meal. A conversation that fills you instead of drains you. Laughter that comes from somewhere deep and uncomplicated.

God designed us for connection. He said from the very beginning, it is not good for man to be alone. We are wired for belonging. For community. For the kind of relationship that holds us without requiring us to perform.

The women in your life who see you - really see you - are part of your restoration.

Don't rush past them in the name of productivity. Don't let the busyness crowd out the people God specifically placed in your story.

Today I'm celebrating two women who are part of mine.

Who in your life is a gift you've been too busy to unwrap lately?

I want to ask you something you might not have considered in a while.

What does rest actually feel like in your body?

Not the idea of rest. Not what you think it should feel like.

The physical sensation of it.

Shoulders that aren't braced. A jaw that isn't clenched. A breath that goes all the way down instead of stopping halfway. The absence of that low hum of dread that has become so familiar you stopped noticing it.

For many women I work with, that question brings up tears.

Because they genuinely can't remember.

Your body holds the memory of rest even when your mind has forgotten it. And one of the most powerful things we can do in healing is help the body remember what safety and stillness feel like.

Tonight, before you fall asleep, take three slow breaths and ask your body:
What would feel like rest right now?

Then listen. She knows. 💚

Time for some truth!

I know you're tired.

I know the list is long. I know people need you. I know there's a voice in your head that says the moment you stop, something will go sideways.

And I also know that you've been running this play for a long time. And it has not led to the peace, the joy, or the sense of purpose you were made for.

The hustle is not the answer. More doing is not the answer.

At some point - and I say this with all the love and compassion I have - the most responsible, faithful, courageous thing you can do is stop.

Not forever.

But intentionally and deliberately as an act of trust in a God who does not need your constant motion to accomplish His plans.

The world kept turning on the seventh day.
It will keep turning while you rest.

But your body, your spirit, your relationships, and your calling need a you that is restored.

Not run into the ground. Restored.

What would you do differently this weekend if you actually believed that? 🔥

I've been sitting with this connection lately.

We talk about rest like it's a self-care strategy. A wellness practice. Something to add to the routine.

But in Scripture, rest is something far more profound.

It is an act of trust and a state of being for those who believe in Jesus.

When you rest - I mean, really rest - you are declaring something:

I believe God is working even when I am not.
I believe the world does not depend on my constant effort to hold together.
I believe He is enough and that I am held.

This is one of the most active, courageous declarations of faith a woman can make.

Psalm 46:10 says: *Be still and know that I am God.*

Not 'be still when you've earned it.' Not 'be still when everything is handled.'

Be still. And in the stillness, you will find Him and know Him.

Rest is not the absence of faith. Rest IS faith in action.

What would it mean for you to treat your rest as an act of worship this week? 💚

I get asked sometimes - what's with the Lemon Balm?

And the answer is personal and intentional.

Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) is one of the most gentle, restorative herbs in aromatherapy and herbalism.

It is calming without sedating. Grounding without heaviness. It soothes the nervous system, eases anxiety, supports sleep, and has been used for centuries to restore a sense of peace and clarity to an overwhelmed mind.

It doesn't force rest. It creates the conditions for rest to be possible.

And my name, Melissa, is Greek for honeybee. Lemon balm is one of the most beloved plants of bees.

When I built this practice, I wanted a name that held the essence of what I do:

I don't push women toward healing. I create the conditions through coaching, energy work, and therapeutic aromatherapy for their own God-given capacity to heal to come forward.

Gentle. Intentional. Rooted.

Just like lemon balm.

Is there a plant, a scent, or something in nature that feels restorative to you? Tell me below...I'd love to know. 🌿

Here's something I hear from women constantly:

'I know I need to rest. I just can't seem to make myself do it.'

This isn't a willpower problem.

The problem is that your nervous system has been in survival mode so long that it has started to believe that stopping is dangerous.

Here's why rest feels so hard even when you're depleted:

1. Your identity got tangled up in your productivity. If you've spent years being the one who holds it together, stopping can feel like losing yourself. Who are you if you're not doing?

2. Rest has been used against you. If you grew up where stillness meant something bad was coming, your body learned to stay busy as protection.

3. The guilt is louder than the exhaustion. The moment you sit down, the list gets louder. And guilt is a very effective alarm system.

4. You don't trust that things will hold without you. And your past experience shows that they haven't. So you keep going.

This is your nervous system doing the job it was trained to do!

But here's the truth:

The thing keeping you from rest is not your schedule. It's the story your nervous system is running.

And that story can change.

Which one of these hit closest to home? 👇

It's Sunday.

Not Sunday as a sprint to get ready for Monday.
Not Sunday as the day you catch up on everything you didn't finish.

Sunday as a gift.
Sunday as a breath.
Sunday as a return.

This week we talked about rest: what it really is, why your nervous system needs it, and why you don't have to earn it.

And tonight I want to invite you to practice it.

Not perfectly.
Not for hours.
Just for a few minutes.

Put the phone down after this post.
Pour something warm.
Find a quiet spot.

And ask God one question:

What do You want to restore in me this week?

Then be still long enough to listen.

Not for a to-do list. Not for a five-step plan. Just for His presence.

That's where rest begins. Not in the absence of hard things, but in the presence of the One who holds them.

He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.

We just have to be still enough to let Him. 💚

If you nodded at more than 1 or 2 of these....let's talk.

It's time to tear something apart!

Somewhere along the way, you picked up the belief that rest has to be deserved.

That you can only stop when the list is done.
Only slow down when everyone else is taken care of.
Only breathe when you've proven you've worked hard enough.

And I want to ask you directly:

Who taught you that?

Because it wasn't God.

God rested on the seventh day not because He was tired, but because He was modeling something for us.
He built the Sabbath into creation itself.
Into the rhythm of the earth.
Into the design of the human body.

Rest is not the opposite of productivity. It is the foundation of it.

And the woman who refuses to rest doesn't get more done. She just gets more depleted.

You are allowed to stop.
You are allowed to receive.
You are allowed to let God fill what the hustle has emptied.

What's the lie about rest you're ready to put down today? 🔥
