The latest ABMP podcast with Whitney Lowe is another great one, so I wanted to share it and heavily hint that you should listen, too!

He talks about how we can totally reboot our anatomy brains just by getting curious about movement... watching it in our clients, feeling it in ourselves, and actually asking for active movement during sessions.

Most of us came out of massage school memorizing concentric muscle actions on flashcards, but real bodies move in eccentric loading, isometric holds, and fluid combos that never fit into textbook definitions.

Playing with that whole spectrum is where things get genuinely fun, turning active movement into an instant assessment tool so you stop second-guessing what is happening under your feet.

Whitney broke down so many practical ways to build real confidence around movement, and the whole time I was listening, I kept thinking about our alumni.

Listen here: https://www.abmp.com/podcasts/ep-591-creative-kinesiology-whitney-lowe

This conversation is the heart and soul of our FasciAshi Range of Motion (ROM) Stretch Therapy class, which happens to be my absolute favorite course to teach!

It isn’t always our biggest crowd-puller, and I get why... from photos, it can easily look like passive stretching or Thai mat work, or people worry it is going to be an overwhelming, dry anatomy lecture.

It isn't passive, and it is definitely not a lecture.

Instead of passive holds, we use active-assistive movement, PNF, reciprocal inhibition, and barefoot pin-and-stretch to stimulate mechanoreceptors, downregulate protective tone, and build mobility and stability from the inside out. It’s about taking the pressure off robotic memorization and learning to read tensegrity, proprioceptive cueing, and tissue response in real time under your soles.

Give Whitney a listen on your commute, start playing with those movement cues on your table this week, and then come geek out with me in ROM! 🤓🤣

Whitney Lowe explores how massage therapists can move beyond rote memorization and begin applying kinesiology in a more practical, creative way.
