QiGong Spinning Drum Arm Swing!

If you are looking for a movement break/ or something to add in to your warm up or cool down, try this QiGong movement.

Why:
“It stimulates the flow of Qi and Blood in the acupuncture meridians so that you can feel the energy as you practice your Qigong exercise . Just this warmup exercise alone is an incredible stress relief technique which reduces Liver Qi stagnation, tight muscles, improves digestion and relaxes the nervous system.” -holistic-back-relief.com

How to:

“This pendulum-like swing is easy to learn and the ticket to more dynamic practice. Watch yourself in a mirror to ensure proper form.

Stance
Relax the body with the feet at hip width, knees bent slightly and toes facing ahead. Knees should be over the feet with arms hanging loosely. Hold the head in line with the spine, and keep the chest open with shoulders over hips.

Technique
The arms swing together in this exercise. Bring nearly straightened arms up to a comfortable height no higher than the shoulders. The palms should face down. Bring them back to the hips and continue backward to a comfortable height. Continue for two minutes or longer.

Tips
This is a gentle exercise that relies on slow breathing through the nose. Do not attempt to control motion in the hands or knees. Everyone should begin at a slow pace that gradually increases, peaks, and slows again toward the end of the exercise.”- Dan Kleiman

More tips:
“Think of it as a massage for the spine and internal organs as you twist like a pepper mill. At the same time the arms are getting the blood flowing by tapping the body.” -nourishingmoves.com

The grass is greener where you water it...

Have you tried taking a Gratitude shower!?

In a world of stress, darkness, responsibility, turmoil, and the list goes on....sometimes it can put people in a negative headspace.

Recently it’s common to say 3 things you are grateful for, but if you need a mega dose of positivity to change your mindset, try 33!

Try writing it down and notice which ones make you feel the best. I recommend approaching it with no judgement.

For example, coffee ☕️ ends up pretty high on the list for me. 💁🏼‍♀️

I hope this helps you!

Love,

Alice

Hey you little caterpillars 🐛! After years of coaching I commonly see when people start making lifestyle changes many try to do too much, too soon!

Why make one change at a time?
1. So you know exactly what works and what doesn’t work. For example let’s say you go to bed earlier, start a whole new diet, workout 10x a week (when you haven’t been working out at all). This is too much for your body, is likely to confuse a lot of things and won’t be sustainable at this rate.
2. Change takes time. It took you a while to get to where you are today! So have a realistic timeline about how far you want to go.
3. Enjoy the journey! The journey is the destination. Why overload yourself when you can savor the steps, celebrate and integrate the things you enjoy and remove the things you don’t like!

What’s one healthy habit that you will try this week?
***Bonus tip*** When you add the habit, pair it with an existing habit to make it more sustainable.

Hope this helps! If you have questions or need help DM me to book a session!

Meditation can sometimes feel confusing or unattainable. But have your given yourself time to just “Do nothing”? Like nothing! No social, no tv, no internet, no talking, just BE! You are a human BEING and you don’t always have to DO!

I recommend setting a timer for 5-20 min and allow yourself to just be. Notice when you give yourself permission to do nothing and see how it feels. If this is new to you, start at one minute!

Let me know how it goes!
