Inspired by my amazing clients ❤️

Yesterday’s group discussion in The Free & Nourished Eater Method really brought up the idea of boundary setting.

Especially as people who subscribe to a Health At Every Size philosophy.

While my clients are in different places on their journeys, everyone was describing how challenging it is to navigate interpersonal interactions and discussions of health with others who are not on the same page.

It got me thinking about common needs at different stages of the process, and how even folks who have been in this mentality for a long time still need community and support.

Holiday weekend/Friend visit photo dump!

As I’m getting more used to the idea of living back on the west coast, it’s so nice to be able to share it and stay connected with people from my east coast decade of life.

And sharing the food here is such an integral part of it all!

I’m so grateful that my feelings around food and connection are sooooo much more positive and easy than at other times in my life.

I can fully be present with friends and flavors, and enjoy it all ❤️

Here’s why I’m posting the FUGLIEST food photos I have ever taken…

These truly uninspiring foods are some of the only things I’ve been able to eat for the past 10 days while I battled an epic stomach bug.

At another time in my life I would have seen this illness as “I’m only 1 stomach bug away from my goal weight” or whatever she says in that movie - and I know now how messed up that is.

But this is what diet culture tells us is best: smaller is better no matter the cost.

Instead of continuing in that messed up mindset, this round I saw what my body actually needed: energy and nutrients, whatever I could stomach.

This version of gentle nutrition is far from sexy (hello Gatorade ice cubes and saltines) - it’s simply an act of service for your body.

It’s centering your own physical needs ahead of what our messed up ideals about body image have to say.

Whether your gentle nutrition practice means adding vegetables or avocado to your lunch - or simply eating what you can, when you can, they’re all worthy practices ❤️

Here’s single BIGGEST thing we miss out on when we aren’t eating intuitively…

⚡️CONNECTION⚡️

This gorgeous meal I had the other night was all about celebrating connection -

and in truth the only reason I got to fully enjoy and experience it is because I’m an Intuitive Eater.

Instead of worrying about finding things to plug into my fitness pal or debating whether I’m thin enough to allowed myself to really enjoy it, I get to:

•Fully connect with myself and what I want to experience about the evening

•Connect with my partner and be fully present in the moment (eavesdropping on the table next to us obviously)

•Order the food and drinks that I want and connect with the absolute JOY that I take in experiencing food and flavors

Whether you’re still dieting but thinking of opting out, or you’re eating intuitively but not *there* yet, please know that living an anti diet life means greater connectivity and it is so damn worth it.

The most common myth I hear about intuitive eating is…

“If I had permission to eat chips and cookies all the time, that’s all I’d eat!”

As you start out, you’ll go through a stage where you do eat more of those foods, as you integrate them into your diet and nothing is “off limits”.

But you’ll also learn to listen to your body’s internal cues - and it will tell you some days “LETS GET A VEGETABLE IN HERE!”

Being an intuitive eater doesn’t mean you can’t choose foods that nourish your body, it just means you get to decide how frequently that happens…

… based on your own body, not some bu****it arbitrary diet rules.

Take the stress and rigidity out of food, and you’re left with a much more delicious life!
