What an AMAZING day with 5 Eco-Fashion Designers presenting at Haute Steam workshop promoting sustainability.
A huge shout out to head of FASHION WEEK San Diego for organizing this project, and to UCSD Extended Studies for hosting us!!

There were 7 fashion students who came to learn about the impact of fast fashion on the environment and explore ways to create cleaner, greener, beautiful fashion.

Check out this fabulous ECO Gown made by using recycled plastic water bottles and recycled denim 👖 jeans. Wow!! A work of art!

Kerri Mannion of Alysse Designs, a designer who showed in the Miraclecatcher Foundation Fashion for Passion and Purpose Charity Show last year, also participated in the workshop. So good to be reunited with several FFP participants.

The lovely Sarra Smith, designer of Sarra’s Petals, taught the students how to sew 🧵pants using recycled fabric. See photo for the pants I made in 1 hour!! You can do it too!!

The joy of creating something with my hands 🙌 came rushing back to me. I sewed as a child with my grandmother and my mother. Happy memories!!
This workshop has inspired me to sew more often and to Upcycle the clothing that I already own into new and fantastic artistic creations.

It does a body good to wear sustainable fabrics like linen, h**p, silk and cotton.
And did you know they have a higher frequency!!?? 🎶

Petroleum-based synthetic fabrics are endocrine disruptors that affect your hormones as well as toxifying the planet.

184 BILLION pounds of textile waste are produced every year!! That’s insane!

Here are ways to reduce your carbon footprint:

*UpCycle the clothes you have with non-toxic paints or embellishments
*Recycle fabrics and clothes
*Repurpose fabric into furniture stuffing
*Trade clothing with friends
*Donate clothing to homeless shelters
*BE UNconventional and make your own clothing using recycled items
*Choose sustainable fabrics from fair-trade suppliers that treat their workers with dignity and fair wages
*Learn the impact of fast cheap clothing on the planet 🌎

You can change the world in every single day with consistent focused action.

Be the change you wish to see.
