Knee Pain Series — Episode 14: Tibialis Anterior Rolling

Pain on the outside of the knee doesn’t always mean the problem is coming from the knee itself.

The tibialis anterior and peroneal muscles run along the outside/front of the lower leg, and tension through these muscles can contribute to discomfort around the lateral knee.

In Episode 14, I’m showing you how to use a runner’s stick to work through these muscles, find those tight and tender areas, and help reduce some of that tension.

Don’t just focus on where it hurts—look at the muscles that may be pulling on the area.

Save this one and give it a try if you deal with outside knee pain.

You know that voice in your head telling you to make the right choice?

Mine sounds suspiciously like the StairMaster. 😈

Workout’s done. Bag is packed. I’m ready to leave…

“Coward.”

Fine. Cardio it is. 😂

Sometimes the hardest part of cardio isn’t actually doing it — it’s convincing yourself not to walk straight out the door after the weights.

The StairMaster always gets the last laugh.

POV: It’s day 2 after leg day and suddenly everything on the floor belongs to the floor.

Dropped the cup. Looked at the cup. Considered my options…

Yeah, I’m just getting a new one.

If you know, you know. Day 2 soreness hits different.

Episode 12: Strengthen the Outside of Your Knee

Lateral knee pain isn’t always a knee problem. A weak or overloaded vastus lateralis can be a major contributor.

Today’s exercise is a slight twist on the traditional leg extension. Instead of using the full range of motion, we’re focusing on the bottom half of the movement to place more emphasis on the vastus lateralis and re**us femoris.

Control every rep, focus on quality, and gradually build strength where it matters.

Have you tried this variation before? Let me know how it feels in the comments.

Episode 11: Strengthen the Outside of Your Knee

If you’re dealing with pain on the outside of your knee, don’t just focus on stretching—don’t forget to build strength too.

In today’s episode, I’m showing a simple tweak to the leg press that targets the vastus lateralis, one of the key muscles on the outside of your quad.

✅ Toes turned in slightly
✅ Drive through the balls of your feet and toes
✅ Keep the emphasis on your quads instead of your glutes

Small changes in technique can completely change which muscles are doing the work. Strengthening the right tissues can make a huge difference in reducing lateral knee pain and improving how your knee moves.

Give it a try and let me know how it feels!
