Getting older doesn’t automatically mean your body is falling apart.

But 😌 It does mean your habits stop being invisible.

The stuff you could get away with at 22? Yeah… it’s loud now.
Skipped sleep.
No strength training.
High stress + zero recovery.
Living off vibes and caffeine.

Aging just turns the volume up on how you are currently caring for your body.
Not as a punishment, as feedback.

The good news?
Your body isn’t “breaking down.” It’s asking for better inputs.

Move your body.
Lift some weight.
Stretch occasionally.
Eat like an adult most days.
Manage stress like it matters (because it does).

You don’t need perfection. You just need to stop pretending your nervous system and joints are optional.

Aging doesn’t ruin your body.
Avoidance just gets harder to hide.

Ever notice how your stress seems to have a favourite parking spot?

For some people it's the jaw.
For others it's the shoulders.
For a lot of us? The hips and low back.

And no matter how much stretching, foam rolling, massage guns, lacrosse balls, voodoo, witchcraft, or sacrificing your firstborn to the mobility gods you try... it keeps coming back.

That's because not all tension is a mobility problem.

Sometimes it's a nervous system pattern.

Your body learns where to brace when life feels overwhelming, uncertain, unsafe, or just plain exhausting.

The tension is communication.

Which is why forcing yourself deeper into a stretch doesn't always work.
Sometimes the fastest way to release tension is to stop fighting it.

To slow down.
To breathe.
To move gently.
To build enough safety that your body no longer feels the need to hold on so tightly.

The body learns to let go when it trusts it doesn't need the tension anymore.

Still stretching your hips every day and getting nowhere?

The problem isn’t your flexibility. It’s your nervous system.

Tight hips are often a protective response
an autonomic response to stress
a joint the body doesn’t trust
too little movement
or too much load too fast

When you force a deep stretch and stretch past that limit, your NS can often respond by pulling tighter.

What actually creates lasting change: controlled end-range work and building strength with load.

Passive stretching has its place too, when the body is ready to let go through surrender, not force. This often has a much gentler approach that requires you to have to skill of body awareness and presence.

So if you’ve been fighting against your tight hips for years, let’s try a different approach. 🤓

If your hips have felt locked up for as long as you can remember…
it’s probably not just “tight muscles.”

It’s stress your body’s been holding onto for years.

And here’s the part no one talks about:
You can’t bully your hips open.
You have to teach them it’s safe to let go.

Start simple.
A gentle rocking motion.
Nothing aggressive. Nothing forced.

Just enough to tell your nervous system:
“Hey… we’re okay.”

Breathe into your belly.
Stay present.
Skip the “deep stretch” Olympics (your body is not impressed).

Because when the hips start to let go…
sometimes other things do too.

A sigh.
A wave of emotion.
Relief you didn’t even realize you needed.

Learning to feel good in your body
without bracing against it
is a skill.

And like any skill… it takes practice.

This is the bridge between how I coach:
