Hello Weekend Warriors!

What are YOU thankful for today?

Here is my list!

1) Snagged a whole outfit to get my sweat on in for $10 at 5 Below! New clothes make me feel strong and pretty!
2) Cheese is an amazing snack and did you know, a great source of protein??
3) Tonight we get to go out to celebrate our amazing nephew Ryan's birthday. A little treat nighy for me without totally derailing progress. Yay!

Oh hi, friends!

I'm back!

It is a new year and I am the same me, but I forgot myself for awhile.

It's life. It happens.

Who is ready to take back their life and conquer a happy, healthy life, one day at a time?

Moving forward, my focus will be to be the best version of myself through positivity and forward progress. No hard rules. No strict goals dictated by numbers on a scale or deadlines.

An update: I am human. Those close to me know the turmoil of the last few months. Well, the stress and less than optimal kitchen/workout conditions definitely took a toll on my body. I find myself starting over, but I did it once, and I can do it again. The upside is I come into this new journey armed with so much more knowledge than I did the first time.

I woke up this morning sore and tight from helping to assemble our new bed, and a MASSIVE cardboard breakdown session this weekend. I actually love putting furniture together. I know. I am weird. However, I ALWAYS feel it, and my back never thinks it is a good idea.

This morning's workout hurt. A lot. My body protested every lunge, every burpee, ever complex movement. I stuck it out, though, and my reward is feeling all the tightness in my body go away! I can walk comfortably again. I am still a little sore, but this kind feels SO much better, because I know I am one step close to my goal.

This selfie isn't pretty, but it's proof I won't give up.

Bonus? Getting to re-fuel with nourishing and YUMMY food that tastes SO much better after a good sweat sesh.

In between places and staying with a pack rat= Nowhere to workout! :/ What's a girl to do??
Well...If you are THIS girl, you hop online and grab a guest pass to NYSC and visit your old friend the elliptical! I have to confess this moving fiasco has thrown my workout routine out of wack, and I have had a few cheats in recent weeks, but I have tries to stay mostly on track. So, after some mild harrassment to join the gym before I had even tried it out (Yikes! :/), I spent a blissful hour getting my sweat on! Best part of getting back on that horse? My endurance is so much better than the last time I went to the gym! Proof positive that a minor bump in life is NEVER a reason to give up. This will always take you back!

Morning, everyone! Happy Friday eve! A quick before and after (post shower and getting ready for work) from yesterday. I won't lie to you all. I still hate mornings. It is still REALLY hard to get up at 5:30 or 6 am to workout, when I am barely awake enough to walk. Haha. BUT, I always feel SO much better during the day. More focused, more motivated, and the hest part is I can come home after work and just RELAX. Sometimes, I struggle. Yesterday, my forward rows to pistol squat were pretty rough, and I could only do 10 (wobbly) reps on each leg, but I did not give up! One day at a time, folks. That is all you can promise yourself, and it DOES add up and make such a difference! :)

One of my favorite quotes and mantras I must repeat to myself quite frequently. Over the last few months going back into the last part of last year, a LOT has happened that I either could not control, or had to accept. My strength and faith have been tested in ways that have been physically exhausting and mentally taxing. My heart has broken and healed and broken and healed again. The one thing I DO have control over? Taking care of myself. Putting that first foot in front of the other one to move forward. I may wobble, I may not always do it perfectly. I may slip up or allow myself some leeway, but at the end of the day, I ALWAYS have control to create my own happiness and write my own story.
Working out and eating right may feel like "showing off" to some, but for me, it is therapy. It is a lifeline. I am moving forward, and I have room on my journey for kindred spirits. Which way are you going?

Hey everyone! Whew! Where to begin?? It has been awhile, huh? I have been working out, but it has been a quieter, more personal story.

Well, I won't give you some sob story or excuses as to why my journey has been tough and my motivation has dipped on and off over the last few months

My only explanation is that I am human, and life happens. The great thing about committing to fitness and focusing on health is that you can hop back on the wagon at any time! So here I am!

Tonight, after the little break I took post losing my furbaby and having my mom come visit (which was amazing and just what I needed!), I had a workout scheduled to get caught up with . But you know what? I didn't feel like it. It is hard to go a few days off from an advanced program and be able to jump right back in. So, I pulled a move. I danced it out to . Why? Because I am human and I deserve happy. I deserve to condition my body the way I feel inspired to. Because sometimes you have to do the workout you WILL DO and that is not just ok, it is GREAT! So let's make a deal now that this page is active again. Let's be real with each other, ok? Let's motivate and push each other. Let's share successes and difficulties, bad days and good ones. Let's be there for each other and inspire and teach each other.
