Cheesy Beef Shell Pasta Skillet 🧀🍝
One-pan comfort food. Shells catch all the meaty sauce + that cheese pull is unreal. Ready in 35 min.
Ingredients - 6 servings:
500g ground beef
1 small onion, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
3 garlic cloves, minced
350g medium pasta shells/conchiglioni
1 can 400g crushed tomatoes
2 tbsp tomato paste
2 cups beef broth or water + bouillon
1 tsp paprika + 1 tsp Italian seasoning
Salt, pepper, chili flakes - optional
1.5 cups mozzarella, shredded + 1/2 cup cheddar
2 tbsp parsley, chopped for garnish
Method:
Brown beef: Heat 1 tbsp oil in deep skillet. Cook beef till no pink, 6-7 min. Drain excess fat. Add onion + bell pepper, cook 4 min till soft. Add garlic 1 min.
Build sauce: Stir in tomato paste, cook 1 min. Add crushed tomatoes, broth, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper. Bring to simmer.
Cook pasta: Add dry shells straight to the pan. Stir well so nothing sticks. Cover, simmer on low 12-14 min till pasta is al dente. Stir every 4 min. Add splash of water if it gets too thick.
Cheese time: Turn off heat. Mix in 1 cup mozzarella + all cheddar till melted and creamy. The sauce will thicken up.
Serve: Top with remaining mozzarella, cover 2 min till it melts for that cheese pull. Garnish with parsley.
