Not a digital detox. A CONSUMPTION diet👂🏾

Friendly reminder: some of y’all don’t need another weight loss diet. You need a consumption diet. 😭

Not food. Information. News. Opinions. Hot takes. Comment sections. People yelling into microphones. People telling you the world is ending. People telling you your hormones are broken. People telling you you’ll never lose weight after 40. People telling you everything is toxic. People telling you everything is a scam. LAWD!!! S**U already. “Turn the tv off!”

At some point your nervous system is just sitting there like “girl, can we please stop ingesting things for five minutes?”

We spend a lot of time worrying about what we’re putting in our bodies and not nearly enough time paying attention to what we’re putting in our minds. 🧠 HELLO?!

Not everything deserves access to you. Not every opinion deserves your attention. Not every notification deserves your energy!!

Consume content the same way you’d want to consume food. With some intention about what you’re actually letting in.

The version before the weight gain. Before perimenopause. Before the divorce. Before caregiving. Before life got so damn complicated and downright HARD.

I know I’ve def found myself waiting for the day I can go back to my 2019 self 😂

There have been seasons where I kept telling myself that once things settled down, I’d get back to me. Back to the energy I used to have. Back to the body that felt familiar. Back to feeling like myself. Giiiiiiirl. 😒

Now having come up for air, and breathing …once again I say, that’s the wrong goal.

Because I’m not the same woman I was ten years ago. Don’t relate to me that way either. I’m not the same woman I was before motherhood. I’m not the same woman I was before some of the hardest seasons of my life.

Life changes us. That’s what it’s supposed to do.

And there’s so much grief that can live inside that realization. Even when the change is good. Even when the growth is necessary. There can still be a part of you that misses who you used to be.

I think I was carrying that around for a long time without realizing it. (Maybe you are too? 👀)

I was soooo frustrated with my body. Frustrated with my energy. Frustrated with myself. But underneath all of that was grief. Grief for a version of myself I thought I’d always have access to. (I love my therapist btw. She a real one)

HEAR ME: Maybe the goal isn’t getting back to who we were.

Maybe she’s just different. You haven’t met her yet. You’re holding on to the Old You so badly…

And maybe she deserves the same curiosity, compassion, and support you’d give anyone else you were trying to understand.

I don’t have YOUR answer but I encourage you to sit with this too.

Something I’ve been wrestling with lately... (Drop an emoji below if you can relate)

It’s hard to be a present parent while trying to build something.

One version of me wants to put the phone down and soak up every minute.

The other version knows that if I want a different future, I have to create it.

Some days those two versions of me are fighting.
This weekend I spent more time at birthday parties and watching the Knicks 💙🧡…than creating content for this internet world.

I’m not mad about it.

My daughter won’t remember whether I posted three times this week.

BUT. She’ll remember whether I was there. 😮‍💨
…Still figuring this one out.

But I have a feeling I’m not the only one carrying some version of this. 😩

There are only so many pieces of me to go around.

I was reviewing a stress assessment this morning and I was reminded:

That you don’t always have to default to blaming yourself for having stress responses that make perfect sense.

Perimenopause.
A sick parent.
Horrible sleep.
Financial stress.
Caregiving.
Relationship changes.
Health issues.

If you’re dealing with any number of THAT …lol come on. Don’t be so down on yourself for struggling. Respectfully… because your life has been life-ing. 😭

My point today: Before you decide you need more discipline, take inventory.

Not of your calories.

Of your life.

Because sometimes the most accurate thing you can say to yourself isn’t:

“I need to do better.”

It’s acknowledging:

“Damn. That’s a lot.”

I looked into GLP-1 medications for myself.

Not casually. I read the studies, did the research, and spent a lot of time thinking about whether it was right for me.

The early postpartum period + sliding into perimenopause… uhhh kinda hit me hard. My body felt completely unfamiliar. I was BEYOND exhausted, in survival mode 24/7, and the scale moved up right along side that chaos. My energy was gone and no real time to RECOVER. Everything felt harder. Because it was SO much harder. No hyperbole.

So a few months back, I wanted something that worked fast. I wanted… relief. Really that’s what I wanted. Not weight loss.

And I think that’s the part people miss when they talk about weight loss medications. A lot of women aren’t looking for a shortcut because they’re impatient. They’re looking for one because they’re exhausted. Carrying years of stress, hormonal changes, responsibility, and burnout. Tired of working hard with so little to show for it.

So, yeah. I get it. I really do.

I ultimately decided not to go that route. I wrestled with it for a bit and knew that I didn’t want to do that. I kept coming back to one question.

What happens after?

These medications can be incredibly effective at reducing appetite and supporting weight loss. What they DON’T do is change the *conditions* women are living in every day. The chronic stress. The sleep deprivation. The emotional labor. The years of putting everyone else first.

When those conditions stay the same, the weight often comes back. Because the environment never changed.

Our bodies adapt to the lives we’re living. A medication changes some inputs for a while. The life is still there waiting.

This is why I keep coming back to the basics: Protein. Strength training. Walking. Sleep. Stress management.Supporting a nervous system that has been carrying tew much for too long 😮‍💨

It’s slow and boring. But still working for me and the women I coach.

ZERO shade toward GLP-1 medications or the women who choose them. I came very close to making that same choice.

I’m just sharing honesty from someone who was sitting in a very similar place, asking the same questions, and chose a different path.

📢 ATTENTION: I have an announcement 🗣️Simple basics are STILL helping folks daily.

17/11/2025

It’s Sunday and my husband took our kid out for a couple hours, so I moved like a woman possessed. (Don’t worry, I’m chillin now 😎)

These floors are Olivia Pope’d! Handled. And I didn’t have to gas out my lungs to do it. I used my plant based, eco friendly stuff from the wellness club and honestly… it hits.

Quick clean, no headache from rancid toxic cleaners (that I still cannot believe I gave up!).

They won’t even noticed I cleaned 😩 except for the fact that it’s spotless. But like I said they won’t even noticed notice …

Our dog, remained unbothered - if anyone cares. 👋🏾

I used to think “environmental health” meant recycling or buying organic, but it’s deeper than that. It’s about how your surroundings support your nervous system. And yeah, like I posted here, your environment is coaching you. 24/7. The lighting, the people (!), the smells, the clutter, etc. All of that is sending signals to your nervous system.

I usually can’t find my groove unless my space is cleaned and tidy. Then I’m off to the races! I’ve also been slowly swapping a few things out and noticing how much calmer my space feels. It’s been an eye-opener. And I’m still connecting the dots between what I use, how I feel, and how my body responds.

If you’ve ever felt like your space is working against your health goals, this is your sign to change that.

Here’s what you can DO: Start noticing what around you adds stress vs. what soothes it?

✨ And if you’re curious what I’ve been switching up, drop a 🌿 and I’ll send you the details.
