Pushbutton transmission: genius or gimmick?

Before luxury performance became a marketing slogan, Chrysler was already building it. Finished in black over red leather with a dramatic long-ram 413 under the hood, this 1961 Chrysler 300G proved that speed and sophistication could coexist long before the muscle car era peaked.

1964 Ferrari 250 GT/L Berlinetta Lusso

Pininfarina designed this fastback berlinetta with a Kamm tail, flowing proportions, and refined details including an egg-crate grille and curved fenders. Built by Scaglietti, the Lusso (Italian for luxury) debuted at the 1962 Paris Motor Show as the 250 GT coupe's replacement, featuring plenty of glass and a completely redesigned interior with a revised dashboard and full leather upholstery throughout.

The Tipo 168 U engine represented the final 3.0-liter development of Colombo's short-block V-12, incorporating outside-plug ignition and single-cylinder porting proven in racing variants like the 250 Testa Rossa and California Spider. Mechanical improvements included four-wheel disc brakes, Koni shock absorbers at each corner, and a rear Watts linkage refined on the legendary 250 GTO.

Ferrari produced just 350 examples between 1962 and 1964, making this the last and most developed iteration of the celebrated 250 GT lineage. Weighing about 2,645 lb (1,200 kg), the GT/L berlinetta remains among Maranello's most collectible production models, with early owners including Steve McQueen.

This particular example sold for $1.5m in 2020.
