Interesting interview with Dr. Euan Ashley on the health benefits of exercise. “Its benefits in prevention outstrip any known drugs: 50% reduction in the risk of cardiovascular disease, 50% reduction in the risk of many cancers, positive effects on mental health, pulmonary health, GI health, bone health, muscle function.”

If you are someone struggling with back pain, regular exercise can be challenging but far from impossible. If properly designed, your recovery program can provide health benefits and not just pain relief. The McGill Method is the best approach to achieving both goals.

Just published! This is a great new clinical resource published this year. Dr. McGill’s Low Back Disorders, 4th edition, is an invaluable resource to clinicians working with back-pained patients. In addition to the updated text, there are valuable online resources such as video and many patient resources.

I am already applying these insights to care and sharing the resources with my patients.

As you can see in the pics, I also use anatomical models from Dynamic Disc Designs and other visual aids with my patients.

If you’re a patient, seek care with a clinician who is up-to-date on the most effective methods of spinal care and rehabilitation. If you have questions or would like to set up an appointment, contact me through my website (link in bio).

Chatbots aren’t doctors. No one knows you better than a licensed, experienced healthcare provider who has spent time with you, getting to know you through history, examination, and records review.

Appropriate patient care is not the aggregate of countless webpages. Your unique situation needs to be carefully evaluated, and those results cannot be entered into a simplified template to derive a care plan that will meet your needs.

For the best outcome, work with someone who has the background and experience you need to get better.

I see this problem frequently. The solution is achieved by employing muscle rehabilitation AND neurodynamics.

This is a great post from and it’s amazing innovator Michael Shacklock who I had the privilege to meet and study under last year.

Great article in the NY Times! One of the biggest problems I see with patients is utilizing bodybuilding programs to chase rehabilitation goals. The focus of rehabilitation is regaining and improving strength and movement. When you have a history of back injuries or problems, this requires a specific, targeted approach. There’s no better way to do this than to start with a McGill Method Assessment.

Let me know when you’re ready to get started! (link in bio)

Starting an exercise program can begin at any age and positively impact health and improve physical capacity in our later years. As the infographic shows, the sooner you begin the better.

If you’re starting the new year with physical limitations due to chronic pain, resolve to do something about it as soon as possible. Start with a McGill Method Assessment.
