Have you ever said no to a walk, avoided the stairs, or changed your plans because you were worried about your breathing?

It's understandable to plan carefully when breathing is difficult. Following medical advice and managing a diagnosed respiratory condition are important. But sometimes, without realizing it, we begin giving up activities because we're worried about how breathless we might feel.

Over time, those small decisions can add up to a smaller world.

Our new article, “I'm Planning My Whole Life Around My Breathing,” explores how breathing patterns, thoughts about breathlessness, and reduced activity can interact—and what you can discuss with your healthcare team.

We also look at where daily breathing habits and coaching may help, alongside appropriate medical guidance.

Take a moment to reflect: What have you stopped doing in the past year, and was that decision based on medical advice or fear of how breathing might feel?

Please remember that new, worsening, or unexplained breathlessness deserves medical evaluation. This article is educational and does not replace medical advice.

Chest tight, breath short — and you're not sure if it's anxiety or something physical with your heart or lungs?

There's a real pattern doctors and researchers use to sort this out: physical causes tend to worsen with activity and ease with rest, building steadily over time. Anxiety-driven breathlessness usually runs the opposite direction — it can show up at rest and fluctuate through the day often based on troubling thoughts and emotions.

We've got a new blog post that breaks down the signs, the validated questionnaires doctors use, and when to head straight to the ER instead of reading further. Link below.

Here's something most parenting advice skips: you can't tell your child to breathe gently or with their nose, when you're not doing it, and see progress and change.

Kids pick up breathing patterns the same way they pick up everything else, by watching the adults around them.

My new post, "Helping Your Child Breathe Better Starts With You," covers the signs worth watching (mouth breathing, snoring, restless sleep), when to bring in a specialist, and why your own daily habits come first.

Your labs came back normal. So why don't you feel right?

Bloodwork clear. Breathing tests clear. Doctor says everything looks fine. And yet — your chest feels tight some days, your breath feels shallow, and you're tired in a way sleep doesn't fix.

That gap is real, and it's more common than you'd think. A normal test rules out disease — genuinely good news. But it was never designed to answer "why don't I feel like myself," and most doctor visits (15–20 minutes on average) don't leave room to trace a vague symptom back to your daily habits.

Coaching starts somewhere different: your own self-care, no diagnosis needed. We look at three places first — breathing patterns, your stress response, and sleep — since all three quietly shape each other, often without you noticing.

A note on scope: this is self-care and lifestyle coaching, not medical diagnosis or treatment. If your symptoms change or worsen, your doctor is still your first call. Coaching sits beside your medical care, not instead of it.

Are you confused when you leave your doctor's office about where and how to start with your treatment plan? A behavioral coach will help you figure out how to incorporate your self-care into your day in a way that works for you!

Especially with breathing, there are so many ways to approach feeling better. It's OK if you can't do everything at once, or if the many steps to change seem overwhelming. Even one small step a day over time can get you to a much better place.

If you need help, accountability or inspiration, I am here to be of service.

You leave the doctor's office with a plan. Weeks later, you're still doing things the same way.

This isn't a willpower problem. Most people need support turning the plan into a daily routine.

As a breathing coach, this is where I come in, filling the space between what your doctor recommends and what you do every day.

New post is up, covering what a breathing coach does with the time a doctor's appointment doesn't allow.

Have you ever quit a breathing or other health program and blamed yourself?

Here's what the research actually says: 50–80% of people abandon new health behaviors within 8 weeks — not because they lack discipline, but because the program asked for more than their nervous system could sustain. When the load of our life -- in all areas includimg health, family, career, money, and more -- is greater than capacity, we can't do it all.

I built something different. It's called Stop Starting Over — a 4-week program where the daily breathing
practice is 2 minutes, missed days don't reset anything, and comebacks count as wins. At the beginning we're training manageability, consistency and frequency over intensity.

Small pilot cohort this May. 6–8 people. $147 pilot price.
