Denture workflows don't have to mean more appointments.

In a new video, Dr. Jennifer Bell shares how she has used a more connected digital workflow to reshape her denture workflow, consolidating appointments, making outcomes more predictable, and reducing the back-and-forth shipping that used to slow the process down.

In Dr. Bell’s experience, traditional denture cases often involve multiple in-office visits and a lot of back-and-forth with the lab, adding time for both the practice and the patient, and this has made all the difference to her workflows.

By capturing a PVS wash impression and scanning it directly with the iTero Lumina™ scanner, Dr. Bell says data can reach her lab within the hour, letting prototype work begin almost immediately.

Do you want scans that are faster or more accurate? We say, “why choose?”

When it comes to intraoral scanning, faster can sometimes mean cutting corners, and more accurate can often mean slowing down. The iTero Lumina™ scanner set out to prove those assumptions wrong. Powered by iTero™ Multi-Direct Capture technology, the iTero Lumina™ scanner captures a 3x larger field of view¹ and scans up to 2x faster,² while still delivering full-jaw accuracy that outperformed four competitor scanners in independent bench testing.³

Rather than trading precision for speed, it captures more data, in less time, at a level of accuracy that supports predictable, first-time restoration fit.⁴

Designing in-house starts with getting the right data at the right time.

For practices looking to bring digital design in-house, the iTero-exocad Connector™ is built to make that transition straightforward. Once a scan is captured, the information flows directly into exocad™ software, giving the design team everything they need to get started:

- Scans arrive directly into exocad software, cutting out extra steps between capture and design.¹
- Designs can be reviewed and approved, or sent back with feedback before moving to production.
- iTero™ NIRI technology (Near Infra-Red Imaging) brings enamel and dentin structure into view, supporting more aesthetic anterior restorations.

On average, teams using the iTero-exocad Connector™ report saving 4.5 minutes per case.²

A recent case study from Dr. Diana Tadros paints a full picture, following a complex aesthetic rehabilitation from initial scan through to final restoration. Read the full case study: https://bit.ly/iTero_Chairside-Aesthetic-Rehab

² Based on a survey between December 2023 and February 2024 of n=20 dental lab technicians in NA, LATAM, APAC, and EMEA, working with exocad 3.2 Eleusis and the new iTero-exocad Connector™, who were presented with a level of agreement scale from strongly agree to strongly disagree with the following statement: "The iTero-exocad Connector™ saves me time when compared to the workflow without the iTero-exocad Connector." 4.5 minutes was the median of the responses. Visualisation helps patients commit to their future smile.

Invisalign® Outcome Simulator Pro brings a patient's potential future smile to life chairside, through in-face visualisation, 3D model view, and the new Smile Video capability, which creates a more engaging, emotionally resonant consultation experience.

GP patients who received Invisalign® Outcome Simulator Pro accepted Invisalign® treatment at three times the rate of patients who did not receive it.¹

How has the Invisalign® Outcome Simulator Pro helped to boost patient engagement in your practice? Share what works best in the comments.

The most valuable gain for a busy practice is time.

Running a high-volume, multi-location practice completing dozens of scans daily? That’s Dr. Jessica Itani’s reality.

In Dr. Itani's practice, after switching to the iTero Lumina™ scanner, her team's average scan time halved from two minutes to one minute per scan, and by leveraging the scanner's auto-upload feature for Invisalign® case submissions, they eliminated the need for separate DSLR intraoral photography altogether.

The combined result: For Dr. Itani's seven-location practice, this translated into an estimated 910 hours* in annual time savings across her seven locations, the equivalent of a staff member working at 44% capacity for a full year.

Two changes drove this outcome:

-Faster scanning: The iTero Lumina™ scanner's 3× larger field of view¹ captures more surface area in every pass, helping to reduce scan time across a high daily volume.
-Fewer steps: Scan-derived images replaced DSLR intraoral photography for Invisalign® case submissions,² removing an average of two additional minutes per patient from the workflow.

Accurate margins start with the right technique.

From occlusal to lingual to buccal, scanning a single unit crown with the iTero Lumina™ scanner is designed to be fluid and intuitive. The rocking, circular motion around the prep tooth ensures the margin and contact areas are captured from every angle, in a single continuous pass.

That feeling when your clinic gets a serious scanner upgrade...and all the possibilities that come with it. At the heart of the iTero Lumina™ scanner is iTero Multi-Direct Capture™ (MDC) technology, engineered to raise the bar on what a scan can deliver:

✨Captures more: A 3× larger field of view¹ means more surface area in every pass, simplifying even the most challenging anatomy.
✨Captures faster: Scanning speed up to 2× faster² compared to the iTero Element™ 5D imaging system, helping to streamline workflows and reduce chair time.
✨Captures accurately: Superior full-jaw accuracy compared to all competitors tested,³ supporting confident, predictable results.

We love this video from Trites Orthodontics, who recently upgraded to the iTero Lumina scanner and says it best themselves – “no goop, no gag, just precision!”

If the iTero Lumina scanner is part of your daily workflow, we would love to hear how it is making a difference. Share your experience in the comments, or tag us in your next post.

Not that we’re eavesdropping, but… did you say, "the perfect choice for restorative dentistry"?

“The perfect choice for restorative dentistry,” says Dr. Karla Soto, recognizing that the iTero Lumina™ scanner is not just a scanning tool. Instead, for Dr. Soto it is the thread that connects every stage of the patient journey, from initial consultation and diagnostics through to patient communication and treatment planning, all within a single, integrated workflow.

When a scanner can do more, so can the clinician. And when the clinician can do more, patient experience skyrockets.

Watch the reel to hear Dr. Soto share how the iTero Lumina scanner supports her restorative practice from start to finish. And share with us in the comments your favorite thing about your iTero scanner.

What does end-to-end digital dentistry look like for a young patient with complex needs?

At Artist Dental Clinic in Taichung City, Taiwan, Dr. Yi Jyun Chen treated a young patient with multiple carious lesions. Dr. Chen delivered same-day 3D-printed resin crowns using the iTero™ Design Suite, going from preparation scan to crowns ready for cementation in under 20 minutes.

At the follow-up appointment, Dr. Chen used the iTero Lumina™ scanner to compare the patient's current condition against the initial scan, giving both the clinical team and the patient's parents a clear, visual confirmation of the treatment's success.

Precision during the scan means confidence at every stage that follows.

From a single-unit crown to a full-arch restoration, clinics recognize that the margin for error in dentistry is small. Precise digital impressions can mean restorations that fit the first time, fewer reappointments, and a better experience for both patient and clinician.

The iTero Lumina™ intraoral scanner is built with this in mind. A single iTero Lumina scan is within accuracy thresholds of photogrammetry for full-arch implant restorations* – matching the established gold standard in a simple and efficient workflow. Because when the data is right from the start, everything that follows is stronger.
