Buddhism teaches that our world is a mandala of orderly-chaos where opposite, contradictory qualities mingle and form intricate combinations which are intelligible. Much like mother nature which exists as a balance of sustained conflicts and tensions, our world is already coherent and integrated when we are not struggling with it, or trying to escape to a better place. The center of every mandala exists as open space with inconceivable depth and vastness. From ego's point of view, this basic space is boring, uneventful, deficient and desolate. But from the Buddhist perspective, we can't cultivate art in everyday life unless we learn to appreciate this neutral psychological space.
