🤍 Happy birthday to the girl who created my ultimate favorite non-tarnish jewelry that I wear non-stop.

I’m in the water a lot, but whether I’m in the ocean, pool, waterfall, lake, creek, shower- I have my saved by salt on. Yes, I buy second hand when I can but I don’t mind buying new if the maker has sustainability in mind. For a jewelry LOVER, when you buy things that don’t last, it ends up being a non-stop replacement game and in the long run, that’s just contributing to the millions of pounds of waste in our landfills.

On top of that, we love supporting woman owned and operated businesses by fellow mermaids.🧜‍♀️💗

So thank you .hilll for creating with intention and allowing me to guilt-free wear my jewelry and also allowing me to be lazy and NEVER take it off.

Every mirror is a photo opp ever since I got my new . There are too many things to like about this company.

🧡 Durable- I can attest to this as I’ve dropped mine several times from 4 ft off the ground and we’re still good 👍🏼 but if you don’t believe me, they have a guarantee.

Every dollar we spend is a vote for the kind of future we want. Support companies who are making sure our money contributes to a better planet. They also have a 1+1 deal that’s essential because it’s too hard to pick just one design!

I spent the first sunrise of 2024 on the ocean. It was a magical and powerful experience that was different from any other New Years I’ve ever experienced. If you don’t know, it’s freezing cold in Korea in the winter. My toes and finger tips were starting to go numb as we patiently waited for the sun to peek over those stubborn clouds. The waves were rolling, my nose was running, but I felt this sense of safety with the ocean. Like it wasn’t going to let any harm be done to me. Not on a special day like the north of a new year.

The ocean does this. It keeps us safe. From breathing in polluted air that would swallow our lungs in gray. It knows how to make currents so we are safe from having a climate that isn’t too hot so we burn to death, but isn’t too cold so we freeze to death. It regulates our atmosphere so we and our future we can survive another day. It keeps us safe from poverty and starvation by giving us an abundance of food and jobs for millions.

So isn’t it time we do the same?

Today marks the beginning of what could be a time where we offer the ocean the same safety. The Global Plastics Treaty (INC-5) held right here in Busan began today with 175 countries working together to find a solution to the plastics crisis. It’s the last chance we have to make a legally binding agreement to address the full life cycle of this detrimental material. It affects you. It affects me. It affects us. There’s not one living creature on this planet it doesn’t affect. Because there’s not one living creature on this planet, plastic doesn’t affect.

Regardless of the outcome of this treaty, I’ve made a commitment and a promise to live a life supporting the safety of our ocean, so it may continue to keep us safe. That will never change.

I’m sending oceans of thanks to all those here in Busan from around the world fighting this fight. You are my heroes and regardless of the outcome, that will also never change. ✊🏼🌊🩵🧜🏼‍♀️

Our goal is to help others understand more about our environment, so that they can develop the desire to care for it on their own. We are not here to tell you what to do. We are here to educate. ✨We were founded in Santa Barbara, California over 10 years ago by a group of powerhouse mermaids wanting the simple dream of swimming in an ocean without trash. We are so excited that dream has crossed over to Busan, South Korea in 2022! 🇰🇷

✨This was the first community event we were so honored to be a part of. Thank you .with.stacey and for the opportunity to have us speak about ocean wellness and inform people about micro plastics. And to all who participated- we are so grateful for you and thank you for making a difference on our home front here in Busan! A day of yoga, picking up trash, then surfing in those blue waters. When you walk into your friends LUSCIOUS garden and get all the feels. 💙🍑🌽🍅

I bet you have heard the age old adage ‘you are what you eat.’ Our physical and mental well-being is directly linked to what we eat and drink. The nutritional content of what we eat determines the composition of our cell membranes, hormones, blood, organs, bone marrow, hair and skin. Every day our bodies replace billions of cells every, and we use the foods we eat as the source. 💪🏽 Eating good food literally = being the best you possible. 🧜🏽‍♀️👸🏽

One of the easiest ways we can not only affect our health but the health of the planet is by keeping the food chain as local as possible. The consequences of our choices about what we eat extend far beyond any one individual can see. 🌊

How local do you go? Do you grow a portion of your food? We like to gather from farmers markets 😍 and go to local grocery stores that support local farmers (not big chains).

*ACTION ALERT CALIFORNIA LETS SAVE THOSE MERMAIDS!*

Right now California is trying to pass a bill called the California Circular Economy and Plastic Pollution Reduction Act (Senate Bill 54 and Assembly Bill 1080)

Every day, single-use packaging and products in California generate tons of non-recyclable and non-compostable waste that often ends up in our environment. This bill would require 75% of single-use plastic packaging in California to be reduced or recycled into something else by the year 2030. All single use products would need to be compost able or recyclable. 😍💙🙏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🐳🌊🧜🏽🧜🏽‍♀️

We have the chance to lead the nation here.

Does anyone else get social media anxiety? 🙋🏽‍♀️

You may have noticed in the last few years I have been more absent on social media. I moved from California to Hawaii. Started an off-grid farm/retreat center that works on reforestation and sustainable education and play, came back to California half time, educated hundreds of children about the ocean, and of course the biggest change of all- had a beautiful baby merboy.🤱🏽🐬💙

During this time Save the Mermaids social media has been hard for me. As I have grown and changed, become pregnant and now as a mother, I have realized I need Save the Mermaids to reflect more of who I am in this life as a young mother, educator, tree hugger, and waterwoman. 🧜🏽‍♀️

It needs to become more personal so it’s easier for me to relate how to live with all my mermaid love in my heart on a day to day basis. I need to be able to not only post about ocean science, but also bring in my Hawaii life and talk forests and off-grid living. I want to be able to share how to be a sustainable mermaid momma and how to save the world a little each day by doing things like using reusable diapers and making your own wipes. 🌞🌿🌊🐳

Moving forward, you can expect to see more content about living a sustainable lifestyle and what that looks like across all areas of life, including motherhood, solar, farming, food etc. I’m also excited to be bringing back our mermaid merch (stay tuned!) and work on our Mermaid Ambassador programs. 🧜🏽‍♀️🧜🏽🧜🏽‍♀️

The future of one of our last true places of wilderness in the US is in danger.

Monday the Trump administration finalized their plan to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska to drilling; home to polar bears, caribou, arctic foxes, beluga whales, seals...... in a move that overturns SIX DECADES of protections for the LARGEST remaining stretch of wilderness in the whole United States. This has sat heavy with me all day today. Where was my vote? Where my child’s vote? Where is not only the honor for the future of our natural space, but also why do we not cherish these spaces more? The Arctic Ocean is one of the most pristine and fragile places left on the planet. Why do we need to open up this pristine 19million acre refuge for drilling, exploitation, and money. It also is an intrusion into sacred indigenous lands of the Gwich’in people. Let alone the climate change impacts.
