Did you know that by 2030, more than 65 million women will be navigating perimenopause and menopause?

Yet despite how common this transition is, there is still a major gap in education, conversation, and access to menopause-trained care.

85% of women experience symptoms related to perimenopause and menopause, but only a small percentage of eligible women use menopause hormone therapy for its symptom relief and long-term health benefits.

Women deserve better information, earlier conversations, and providers who truly understand this stage of life.

The earlier these conversations start, the more informed and supported women can feel through midlife and beyond.

Timing matters when it comes to menopause hormone therapy.

There is what’s called a “critical window” or timing hypothesis—the idea that starting menopause hormone therapy earlier in the menopause transition may provide additional cardiovascular and health benefits for some women.

Waiting too long may change both the benefits and potential risks, which is why individualized care and early conversations are so important.

Every woman’s health history and needs are different, but understanding your options sooner rather than later can help you make more informed decisions about your health.

Menopause Monday starts now 🤍

Each Monday, I’ll be sharing insights about perimenopause, menopause, hormones, healthy aging, and more.

I want to kick it off with one of the questions I’m asked most often:
“Do you personally use menopause hormone therapy?”

For me, the answer is yes, for both symptom relief and long-term health benefits.

My goal is to help women feel more informed, supported, and empowered to understand their bodies and their options.

Perimenopause or menopause can be confusing, and you may have received misinformation or dismissal surrounding your midlife health. If you're feeling this way, you don't have to go through it alone.

I was the most recent guest on the Connected Conversation with Jessica Clark, and we're continuing the conversation with a live Q&A this Wednesday, May 13th!

“Menopause and Weight Management: Hormones, GLP-1s, and Lifestyle” are such important topics because these shifts are so much more than vanity.

Understanding what’s happening in your body is key to long-term health and wellness.

Such a valuable few days of learning and connection at the Livelong Women’s Health Summit!

My top 5 takeaways:

1️⃣ Menopause hormone therapy (MHT) remains one of the most effective tools for managing symptoms, but it's not a magic pill. It must be paired with a healthy lifestyle.

2️⃣ Evidence matters. Research and clinical data guide safe, effective care.

3️⃣ GLP-1 therapies continue to show strong results for metabolic health and inflammation.

4️⃣ Perimenopause often starts earlier than expected and is frequently missed or dismissed.

5️⃣ And one of the biggest themes: community matters. Connection and relationships play a powerful role in healthy aging.

Grateful to bring these insights back to my patients and continue supporting women with thoughtful, evidence-based care through midlife!

Women’s health isn’t made up of isolated phases, it’s a continuous, evolving process.

From early hormonal patterns to perimenopause and menopause, the body is always adapting. Many of the symptoms women experience in midlife don’t appear suddenly, they build over time as hormone levels shift and fluctuate.

Understanding this continuum can change the way you approach your health.

Instead of reacting to symptoms as they arise, you can begin to recognize patterns, ask informed questions, and explore supportive care earlier.

When we look at the full picture, we’re better able to support long-term health: from energy and metabolism to bone, brain, and emotional well-being.

This conversation is just the beginning. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be exploring what these changes can look like and how to navigate them with confidence!

So many women are told to wait until something feels “serious enough” before looking deeper into their health.

But when it comes to hormones, the earlier you understand what’s happening in your body, the more supported and informed your decisions can be.

Changes in sleep, mood, energy, and cycles aren’t random, and they’re not something you have to simply push through. These shifts often begin gradually, long before they’re labeled as perimenopause or menopause.

Too often, women are dismissed or told that these changes are “just part of getting older.” While hormonal transitions are natural, feeling unheard or unsupported shouldn’t be.

There are evidence-based ways to better understand your symptoms, support your body, and navigate this stage of life with more clarity and confidence.

At Coastal Well Woman, care is centered around listening, education, and personalized support, so you can feel informed, prepared, and well at every stage.

If you’re ready to better understand what your body is telling you, we're here to help. 💜
