👀 Answers to FAQs👇
🤔What is somatic dance? ‘Somatic’ comes from the Greek word ‘Soma’ and means ‘of the body.’ While all dance is technically of the body, Somatic Dance is a mindful movement practice focusing on internal sensations rather than outward technique, performance, or appearance. It’s all about listening to your body and intuition to guide movements to help release tension, process emotions, and connect with inner wisdom.
🤔What are Chakras and why should I work with them? Chakra is Sanskrit for ‘wheel’ and your Chakras are seven main energy centers in the body, said to spin like wheels, running from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. Working with them helps improve energy flow, reducing stress and promoting balance, which helps you feel better overall.
🤔What is breathwork and how can it help me? Breathwork refers to breathing techniques that intentionally channel and focus on the breath. For thousands of years, Eastern medicine practices, including traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda, have used breathing techniques to produce the desired effects in the body and the mind. Some breathing patterns calm you down, some pump you up, and some help you balance the two.
