I recently shared how lectins can affect your gut health. So which foods are the biggest culprits? 👇

Grains: Wheat, barley, rye, oats, corn (best to avoid) 🌾

Legumes: Beans, lentils, chickpeas, soy (can be eaten if pressure cooked). Skip peanuts. 🫘

Nightshades: Tomatoes, peppers, eggplant (can be eaten if peeled, seeded, and pressure cooked). Potatoes should be peeled and pressure cooked. 🍆

Nuts/seeds: Cashews, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds (avoid) 🌻

This doesn't mean every food on this list is off-limits forever - proper preparation makes a big difference. More on that soon! 🌿

Have you ever eaten a meal and felt bloated, tired, or uncomfortable afterward? Lectins might be the reason why.

Lectins are proteins found naturally in many plants. They act as a defense mechanism to protect plants from being eaten. The problem is that when we consume high-lectin foods, these proteins can wreak havoc on our gut.

Here's what lectins do in your body:

They bind to your gut lining and cause damage and inflammation. Over time this creates what's known as "leaky gut" - where particles that shouldn't enter your bloodstream do, triggering immune responses throughout your body.

This can lead to:

▪️Digestive issues and bloating
▪️Joint pain and body aches
▪️Brain fog and difficulty focusing
▪️Low energy and fatigue
▪️Skin issues
▪️Weight gain

The good news? Reducing or eliminating high-lectin foods can make a dramatic difference in how you feel. It did for me.

I'm Julie, and I'm so glad you found this page!

My journey to gut health wasn't straightforward. After having my thyroid removed in 2012, I struggled for years with digestive issues, inflammation, weight gain, and just not feeling like myself. In 2018 I discovered Dr. Gundry's Plant Paradox program and everything changed. My digestion improved, the inflammation went away, I slept better, and I lost 30 pounds. It didn't happen overnight, but it genuinely gave me my life back.

That experience is why I created Gutastic Living — a space where I share the products, tips, and resources that have actually worked for me on a lectin-free lifestyle.
