Books! Books! and more Books!

Behind every consult call, overnight shift, postpartum visit, nursery setup, and home-cooked meal is countless hours spent learning. Every chapter, every workshop, every training, but most importantly, every family teaches me something new. No literature can beat the hands-on experience of nurturing a brand-new baby, and I am so grateful for each and every family that has ever entrusted me during their postpartum period.

I love, love, love this work and will continue to build my library and apply all I can to provide the most unique and specialized care to each unique and special baby!

Bone Broth & the Fourth Trimester 🍲🤍

One of my favorite staples for postpartum recovery is homemade bone broth. It's nourishing, versatile, and can be prepared well before baby arrives.

For lactation 🤱
💧 A delicious source of hydration and electrolytes
🥣 Naturally rich in minerals
🥩 A source of protein

For healing 💆‍♀️
🌿 Warm, easy-to-digest foods promote blood flow for postpartum recovery
✨ Contains collagen-derived proteins and amino acids that support your body's natural healing process

The best part? Bone broth can be made months in advance and frozen without losing its nutritional value. Sip it on its own, or use it as a flavorful base for soups, rice, vegetables, meats, and casseroles.

It's the very first thing I prepare for families who book my postpartum meal service. From there, it becomes the foundation for many of the nourishing meals I stock in their freezer. Everything is prepared with organic ingredients and frozen in individual portions, making it easy to grab and go even with a baby strapped to your chest.

Share with someone you know who might be needing a little inspiration for their postpartum kitchen!

Hi!

I'm Karlie - the owner of Sacred Cradle Perinatal Care located here in Southern Maine. I have spent the last year completing online course certifications as well as hands-on training through mentorship to become a certified Postpartum Doula and Newborn Care Specialist. This past year, I have supported 7 families with both overnight newborn care and daytime doula help. I bring confidence and experience with babies as young as 3 days old as well as multiples!

Prior to becoming a PPD I spent 6 years as a private Nanny to over 12 children under the age of 5. Six of those children were under the age of 2 and several overall which required specialized or unique care.

I truly shine both in the nursery and in the kitchen. I have a passion for healing and fueling the body through food and a lifetime of experience in the holistic community. I have a deep understanding of the needs of a new mother and what it means to come together - be the village - and raise the next generation.

I want to help new families feel confident and supported when they bring their new baby home. I want to answer their questions, stock their freezers, and give them full nights of sleep from the moment they step into their home and build a cradle that is so sacred for their little ones.
