There's a particular kind of exhaustion that comes from trying to heal with your mind alone.

Reading the books. Understanding the patterns. Knowing, intellectually, why you do what you do β€” and still doing it anyway.

Somatic healing works differently. It starts with the body. With what you feel before you can explain it. With the places your nervous system learned to brace, shrink, or disappear β€” and the possibility of something new.

This June 13 & 14, we're hosting a free two-day Summit with ten of the world's leading voices in this work. And we want you there.

You know that part of you that shuts down in conflict?

The one that goes quiet.
Pulls away.
Disconnects.

What if that part isn't a problem to fix?

What if it's trying to protect you?

Parts Work teaches us that we're not one unified self, but a collection of parts, each with their own history, fears, and needs.

Some parts push us forward.
Some keep us safe.
Some help us avoid pain.

When we understand these protective strategies with curiosity rather than judgment, something begins to shift.

Healing starts when we stop fighting our parts and start listening to them.

Our Integrative Somatic Parts Work Certificate begins June 6.

When did you last feel genuinely at home in your body?

Not relaxed. Not distracted. Not numb.

Actually present; where your skin felt like yours, your breath felt easy, and the ground beneath you felt real.

For a lot of us, that feeling is rarer than it should be. That's not a personal failure. It's what happens when we live in a world that asks us to be everywhere but here.

This month, we're coming back. To the body. To presence. To the kind of healing that starts from the inside.

What brings you home? πŸ‘‡

We don't have a mental health crisis. We have a disembodiment crisis.

Hot take? Maybe.

But consider:

β†’ A culture that rewards pushing through fatigue.
β†’ A medical system that treats the body and mind as separate.
β†’ Education that trains kids to ignore hunger, sleep, and bathroom needs.
β†’ Workplaces that incentivize dissociating from sensation.
β†’ A wellness industry that mostly tells you to think positive.

Then we're surprised when people are anxious. Burned out. Disconnected. Numb.

The "mental" in mental health was always a misnomer. There is no mental health without nervous system health. There is no nervous system health without embodiment.

The good news?

The way back is shorter than you think. It starts with one breath you actually feel. One sensation you don't override. One moment you stay in the body when the urge is to leave.

Mental Health Awareness Month is almost over. The work is just beginning.

Where are you choosing to come back into your body this week?

TONIGHT: Fran Booth is teaching the part of IFS most therapists skip β€” the body.

Integrative Somatic Parts Work: IFS and Protectors.

Here's what most parts work training won't tell you:

Protectors don't just live in the mind. They live in the muscle. The breath pattern. The clenched jaw. The braced shoulder. The held pelvic floor.

If you only access them cognitively, they often resist.

If you meet them somatically β€” they soften.

Tonight, Fran is teaching:

β†’ How to track protectors through the body
β†’ Somatic indicators of polarized parts
β†’ How to use breath, posture, and gesture to invite Self energy
β†’ When body-based intervention is more effective than dialogue

This is masterclass-level training. Live + recorded for MEMBERS.

What's the moment you realized your body had been holding something heavy?

For some of us, it was a yoga class where we suddenly couldn't stop crying.
For some, a massage where the therapist hit a spot and a memory surfaced.
For some, a panic attack that finally forced us to slow down.
For some, a moment in nature when we felt β€” for the first time in a long time β€” safe.

The body has a memory longer than the mind.

And sometimes, the moment of realizing that is the beginning of the healing.

We want to hear your story. Drop it in the comments. Long, short, vulnerable, simple β€” whatever lands.

Reading every single one. 🌱

(And if you're in the work professionally and these stories light you up β€” our community is the place for you.)

"The question isn't why the addiction. It's why the pain."
β€” Dr. Gabor MatΓ©

For decades, Dr. MatΓ© has been asking the questions our field has been afraid to ask:

β†’ What if "mental illness" is often a normal response to abnormal childhood circumstances?
β†’ What if addiction is not a disease but a coping mechanism?
β†’ What if disconnection from the body is the wound underneath nearly every modern epidemic?

His work, alongside our other faculty including Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, Dr. Peter Levine, and Pat Ogden, has reshaped how a generation of therapists, coaches, and healers understand suffering.

This is what we teach inside The Embody Lab.

Not surface-level interventions. Not symptom management. But the willingness to go where the pain actually lives β€” in the body, in childhood, in the nervous system, in the parts that learned to numb, run, fight, or freeze.

If Maté's work has shifted something in you, drop a ❀️ in the comments.

The body keeps the score. But who's actually listening?

Most of the mental health field is still trained to ask: "How does that make you feel?"

The body's been screaming for years. Tight chest. Locked jaw. Numb legs. Held breath. Frozen pelvis.

We just call it "anxiety" and prescribe a worksheet.

We're not anti-medication. We're not anti-CBT. We're not anti-anything that's working.

We are pro: actually meeting the body where it is.

This means:

β†’ Asking "where do you feel that?" not "why do you feel that?"
β†’ Trusting tremors instead of pathologizing them
β†’ Treating dissociation as wisdom, not deficiency
β†’ Listening to fascia, fluid, and breath as primary sources of information

This isn't fringe. This is the integration the field is moving toward β€” and we believe it can't happen fast enough.

What's something your body has been telling you that you're finally ready to listen to?
