Before we meet this Wednesday, we invite you to spend a little time with this month’s topic: The Fear of Disappointing Others.

Carrie Carrie Gonzalez has shared a few journal prompts to help you notice where the fear of disappointing someone may be showing up in your own life, along with affirmations to give you new language to return to when familiar patterns begin taking over.

You don’t need to work through every prompt or come to the call with anything figured out. Choose what resonates. Notice what comes up. Bring whatever you’d like to explore with you when we gather.
Wednesday, October 7th | 7 PM PST | Zoom

Our Complimentary Group Transformational Coaching Call is open to inLIGHTen Wellness clients and alumni through the Lotus Community.
Join the private Facebook group through the link in our bio. If you’re not on Facebook, we’ll send the Zoom link via email and text one hour before the call.

Someone else’s disappointment does not mean you have done something wrong.

09/30/2026

I’ve been exploring my own fear of disappointing others lately.

And underneath it, I’ve found deeper questions:

If someone is disappointed in me, will they still love me?
Will I still belong?
Am I still worthy?

When we carry those fears, it can become easy to shape ourselves around the expectations of others, to say yes when we mean no, stay quiet when something needs to be said, or choose what keeps someone else comfortable instead of what feels true.

But every time we abandon ourselves to preserve connection, that connection becomes a little less authentic.

I’m learning that loving someone doesn’t mean never disappointing them.

Sometimes it means trusting the relationship enough to be honest. To honor what is true for us. To allow another person to have their feelings without making those feelings a measure of our worth.

We can be compassionate without abandoning ourselves.

We can love others without becoming who they need us to be.

And perhaps one of the greatest gifts we can offer the people we love is the opportunity to know, and love, who we actually are. 🤍

This is also the conversation we’re bringing into the Lotus Community this October.

Our next Complimentary Group Transformational Coaching Call will explore The Fear of Disappointing Others, led by Carrie Gonzalez, R.N., Transformational Coach & Guide.

Wednesday, October 7th | 7 PM PST | Zoom

We’ll explore where this fear comes from, what it may be asking us to protect, and how we can begin honoring our own needs without believing someone else’s disappointment means we’ve done something wrong.

The Lotus Community is complimentary for inLIGHTen Wellness clients and alumni. You can join our private Facebook group through the link in bio, or watch for the Zoom link via email and text before the call.

There are moments when pain, exhaustion, grief, trauma, or hopelessness can become so heavy that we simply cannot see beyond where we are.

In those moments, we may not need someone to convince us that everything will be okay.

We may simply need someone willing to stay.

Someone who can sit beside us without judgment.

Someone who can remind us that we are not required to carry everything alone.

And sometimes, when we cannot find hope within ourselves, we borrow it from the people who love us until we can hold it again.

During Su***de Prevention Month, I want to remind us that we don’t have to have perfect words for someone who is hurting.

We can ask.

We can listen.

We can stay.

We can help them reach for support.

When the light feels far away, we hold it for one another. 🤍

If you or someone you know is in crisis or thinking about su***de, call or text 988 in the U.S. to connect with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. If there is immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.

There are things we can learn about healing through medicine, science, education, training, and years of caring for others.

And then there are things we come to understand differently because we have been willing to turn inward ourselves.

At inLIGHTen Wellness, both matter deeply.

Every member of our team has engaged in their own inner work—not because we believe there is some healed version of ourselves we eventually arrive at, but because we believe this work asks us to remain curious about our own humanity, too.

We know what it feels like to look inward.

To recognize a pattern we couldn't see before.
To sit with something uncomfortable.
To meet an old wound with new understanding.
To discover that something we once needed to protect us may no longer serve us.
To soften, release, grow, and sometimes begin again.

And we are still doing it.

That doesn't mean we know what your healing should look like.

In fact, I believe it teaches us the opposite.

It teaches us humility.

It reminds us to listen rather than assume. To stay curious rather than interpret your experience through the lens of our own. To honor that your path, your timing, and your unfolding belong uniquely to you.

We are not standing at some finish line asking you to catch up.

We are human, too.

Still learning. Still growing. Still meeting the places within ourselves that ask for our attention.

So when we say we walk beside you, those words mean something to us.

We have been willing to walk inward, too. 🤍

And you do not have to walk this path alone.

Notice → Pause → Orient → Feel → Choose.

If your nervous system has spent years anticipating, protecting, scanning, fixing, controlling, pleasing, shutting down or preparing for what might happen next, those responses can become incredibly automatic.

So how do we begin changing them?

We practice creating a little bit of space.

NOTICE

What is happening in my body? Tight chest? Racing heart? Clenched jaw? Heat? Restlessness? Racing thoughts?

PAUSE
Before reacting, take a breath. Maybe place a hand over your heart. Give yourself a moment.

ORIENT
Feel your feet. Look around you. Notice where you actually are.

Am I physically safe right now?

Is something dangerous actually happening — or does this moment feel familiar to my nervous system?

FEEL
Allow the emotion to be there.

Regulation isn’t about making ourselves stop feeling.

We can feel anger, fear, sadness, anxiety or discomfort without requiring that emotion to dictate what happens next.

CHOOSE
What response feels aligned with who I am today rather than what I once needed to do to protect myself?

This is one of the reasons integration is such an important part of ketamine-assisted healing.

Ketamine may temporarily increase neuroplasticity and loosen our reliance on familiar pathways.

Then we practice.

Again and again, we give the brain and body a different experience:

I can feel uncomfortable and still be safe.

I can pause.

I don’t have to react immediately.

I have choices.

Over time, the pathway we’ve traveled a thousand times doesn’t have to be the one we automatically take.

There are other roads available to us.

Ketamine can help create the opening.
Integration is where we begin learning how to walk a different path. 🤍

09/07/2026

“I just want my brain to turn off.”

I hear some version of this from so many people.

Their minds are racing. Their bodies can’t settle. Even when life becomes quiet, they have difficulty actually feeling the quiet.

Sometimes this is what a nervous system that has spent a long time protecting us can look like. We can know we’re safe while our bodies are still scanning, anticipating, or bracing.

Part of healing can be helping the body experience what the mind already knows:

I am safe in this moment.

Ketamine may create an opportunity for this work by temporarily increasing neuroplasticity and loosening our reliance on deeply ingrained patterns.

But ketamine isn’t the whole story.

Ketamine creates the opening. Integration helps us practice what comes next.

A breath. Feet on the ground. A pause long enough to notice:

I’m here. I’m safe right now. This is not then. I have choices now.

The responses we developed weren’t “bad.” Many once protected us beautifully.

Healing can include helping the brain and nervous system learn that they may not need to work quite so hard anymore. 🤍

Where does genuine hope end and false hope begin?

This September, our complimentary Transformational Coaching call will explore Reality vs. False Hope, a topic requested by a member of our own community.

Together, we’ll reflect on what it means to meet reality as it is, even when it isn’t what we hoped for, without losing our capacity for genuine hope, possibility, and forward movement.

Join Carrie and the inLIGHTen Wellness community on Wednesday, September 2 from 7–9 PM for conversation, reflection, and continued integration.

“Will ketamine change who I am?”

I hear this question often.

And underneath it is usually a deeper fear:

What if I become someone I don’t recognize?

I think about healing very differently.

Throughout our lives, we accumulate layers—experiences, trauma, expectations, roles, and beliefs we’ve absorbed from family, culture, religion, school, relationships, colleagues and society.

Without realizing it, we can begin building our lives on a foundation of who we believe we’re supposed to be.

Be strong.
Keep everyone happy.
Don’t disappoint anyone.
Don’t show that part of yourself.
Your worth comes from what you accomplish.

Eventually, that foundation can feel less and less like home.

Ketamine doesn’t determine who you should become. But within an intentional healing process, it can create space to become curious about the beliefs and patterns you’ve been carrying:

Is this actually true?
Is this belief even mine?
Does it still serve me?
Who am I underneath it?

Sometimes healing means allowing parts of that false foundation to crumble—not so that you disappear, but so that you can begin building from something more solid:

Your truth.
Your values.
Your authentic expression.
Your connection to yourself.

Healing isn’t about becoming someone new.

Perhaps it’s about becoming increasingly free to remember—and live as—who you’ve always been. ❤️
