We greet this Friday morning with gratitude.

At BioActive Med, we are honored to stand alongside community and tradition as co-sponsors of an Apache Sunrise Ceremony—a sacred celebration of life, renewal, and connection. As the sun rises, so does our awareness of the gifts we are given each day.

Mother Earth provides us with everything we need for health and wellness. Through plant medicines and intentional living, we are reminded to listen, to learn, and to give thanks.

As we close out the week, we take a moment to reflect—on the lessons, the growth, and the resilience within and around us. Gratitude is not just a feeling; it is a practice, a perspective, and a path forward.

This morning, we witnessed more than a flame—we welcomed a living relative.Fire is not just energy. She is light that guides, warmth that comforts, and heat that transforms. This morning, she carried our prayers, prepared our food, and nourished both body and spirit during the Apache coming-of-age ceremony. In her presence, we are reminded that life itself is a sacred cycle of transformation.

At BioActive Med, we walk at the intersection of tradition and innovation. As one of the first tribally owned wellness labs in the United States, we honor the ancestral teachings of plant medicine and the teachings carried through ceremony. Just as fire transforms what it touches, plant medicine works in harmony with the body—awakening balance, healing, and connection.

This is more than science. This is relationship. This is responsibility. We are guided by the same elements that have sustained our people for generations—earth, plant, fire, and spirit.

Through them, we continue the work of healing, for our communities and for those yet to come.

CONGRATULATIONS JUSTIN PIOCHE

Justin Pioche, a Navajo chef from New Mexico, was crowned champion on Chopped’s special episode “Indigenous Inspirations,” which aired April 21 on Food Network, winning the $10,000 prize.

The episode marked the first time the show centered an entire competition on Indigenous cuisine.

He competed against Mariah Gladstone, Ray Naranjo, and Jessica Walks First, advancing through each round with dishes inspired by Indigenous ingredients and techniques to secure the final win.

His victory highlights a growing recognition, where Indigenous food is reaching national audiences.
