Coronavirus (Covid 19) update: I am postponing launching walks at least until the situation is clearer in King County.

I believe using the precautionary principle is best for all in the current situation.

This decision is based on my reading of the best available information. I have a MA in science journalism.

I also believe that this is the most compassionate decision, in my heart.

While King County is still only recommending social distancing in large groups (10 people or more) if you’re high risk, and working from home if possible - for me there’s also the question of whether it is wise to gather groups together if it can be avoided, in case of someone unconsciously spreading the virus to someone at risk.

To me, it does not seem worth the risk and I want to prioritise safety above all other considerations - even though I would dearly love to share the immune system boosting & wellbeing benefits of forest bathing with you at this time. I am privileged to be able to make this decision.

Though I understand it can feel concerning to be at the epicentre of the US epidemic of Covid 19, and my heart goes out to those affected, I also hope that we can also find bright spots of interconnection despite the situation.

Some invitations:
💚 spend time gardening
💚 spend time among the trees
💚 nourish your body well
💚 love on your loved ones
💚 love on all of humanity, living beings, and the Earth.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

I desire to create some online resources with forest bathing invitations for you to use on your own walks to maximise your immersion in nature, & health & wellbeing benefits from it. If you’re interested please let me know!

“The researchers found that 2.5 to 3% of a person’s mental health is based on how often they visit parks.... about the same as the effect of additional income on a person’s mental health, according to the study.”

Exposure to the outdoors in a park can save the world trillions in health care costs, a new report says.

“One touch of nature makes the whole world kin” 🌿 William Shakespeare.

Nature and Forest Therapy guiding can support us to connect to what we all have in common, rather than divides us.

We are invited into our senses, ourbodies, and into our heart perception.

And what can we see? Interconnection.

The interconnectedness of nature and our hearts within it. One love.

What does it mean to be an ANFT (Association of Nature and Forest Therapy) certified guide?

It means you’ve completed rigorous training, including a week’s immersion and a 6-month Practicum, plus have a current Wilderness 1st Aid certificate.

The training is a deep dive into how to open the doors to the healing of nature and forests as a guide.

For example, I included two walks with an ethnobotanist in my Practicum to learn native species that I can safely forage for tea ceremony.
