MEASURING FOOD: HAND METHOD vs FOOD SCALE — Which Is More Accurate?

There are two common ways to measure your food:

✋ Hand Method
• Palm = Protein
• Fist = Vegetables
• Cupped hand = Carbs
• Thumb = Fats

This method is:
✔ Simple
✔ Travel-friendly
✔ No tools needed
✔ Great for beginners

BUT… it’s an estimate.

Your hand size changes accuracy. Portion density matters. A “cupped hand” of rice is different from a cupped hand of pasta.



⚖️ Food Scale Method
This method measures in:
• Grams
• Ounces

This is:
✔ Precise
✔ Trackable
✔ Consistent
✔ Best for fat loss or competition prep

If you are:
• Trying to lose fat
• Reverse diet
• Build muscle
• Competing (like me chasing pro card)

A food scale is more accurate. Period.



So which is better?

I’m in my kitchen meal prepping grilled chicken and turkey. I used my own dry herb blend and avocado oil to keep the meat from burning — avocado oil handles high heat much better than many other oils, which makes it perfect for grilling.

No matter how old you are, don’t let anyone tell you that it is too late to grow muscles and going on stage to compete is a “far-fetched” dream.

I’ve seen some people over 50,60, and even 90 year old who walked on stage looking all muscular and fit!
Anyone can grow and tone up muscles and being fit at any age 💪🏼

Saying people can’t grow muscle because of age is ageism, not coaching.

Muscle doesn’t care how old you are — it cares about hormones, fuel, and training. Protein, carbs, fats, sodium, and sugar all serve a purpose in muscle growth.

Muscle tissue is ageless. Poor education isn’t.

I purchased a Force USA folding power rack about 3 years ago, specifically because I was told a cable attachment would be available.

Over the past 3 years, I’ve emailed multiple times and consistently checked in, only to be told the attachment was out of stock with no clear timeline.

After waiting patiently and following up for years, I finally decided it was time to move on and upgrade my setup.
