Two postpartum appointments in one day! Who doesn’t love a day full of babies? Both moms are doing great and so are their precious little ones! We looked back on their labors and shared different parts of them with each other.
The postpartum appointment does not get talked about enough. It is important for our mental health to look back and process what our bodies went through. With all the emotions and how fast things can move while in labor, certain details are missed or forgotten. Taking the time to walk through it and see everything from the outside helps to understand what happened and the process. I had one client that was blaming herself for how things progressed until we talked about the labor. I saw the change that made for her and the relief she felt. Sometimes there are funny moments that you miss. I had one client that didn’t know she dozed off while laboring in the pool. You never know what will come up and how it can help you!

After a crazy labor and learning that Mom was only feeling every OTHER contraction (what?!), it took teamwork to get this baby in Mom’s arms. Mom pushed when she felt the contractions and the Midwife let her know when she was having the ones in between! Using a mirror, Mom could see her baby girl entering this world and that helped a ton! Sadie Rene was finally here at 11:17 A.M. on September 17th! She weighed 8 lbs 3 oz and 21.5 inches long! What a strong Mom and Dad through it all!

Mom and Dad have been waiting patiently to meet their baby. Finally, at 41+ 3, contractions started and Mom labored at home. After her water broke, we headed to the birthing center! She is 7 cm and Baby is at a 0 station! Getting ready to get in the pool!

What an adventure that was! Not due for another two weeks and her labor was 3.5 hours! This beautiful baby boy was born at 2:09 A.M! Mom did an amazing job listening and working through those contractions. Dad was awesome talking in her ear being her anchor! A nurse and I held her legs as support and guided her! Only one small tear as well!

Welcome this precious baby girl that made her debut on September 9th at 7:35 A.M. Weighing 7 lbs 11 oz and 20.25 inches long! Mom labored at home trying to get contractions closer together. Around 1:30 A.M., we decided to lie down and see if she could get sleep (if any) between contractions. Mom told me to get some sleep too! Dad did not get any as he was worried about Mom. At 4:30 A.M., she had a few that felt like she needed to push! We got to the birthing center at 5:00 A.M. and she was 8 cm and fully effaced! By 5:50 A.M., she was fully dilated and getting ready to push! Baby girl came at 7:35 A.M. and Mom had no tears! What an amazing labor! Mom was so strong and listened to her body! Dad was amazing support and very attentive! We made a great team!

Mom is 40+4 today and had her checkup earlier. 3cm and baby is at a 0 station! Labor is picking up tonight, so we are doing all the things and listening to worship music! Their beautiful dog knows something is going on and is patiently waiting!
