My Sister Gwen shared this
"I was transported to St.Bruno Mission in Joussard, AB along with many others. I was given an individualized number. I had to pray. My hair was cut very short. Fluent in my language it was quickly changed to English only to speak Cree no more. I had to pray. I marched those halls, corridors, basement & grounds. I had a special dress with my # for every Sundays High Mass, where we all had to pray. I was not allowed to interact with my brother & sister. I slept in a single cot which were all lined up row by row by row. I knelt by my cot every morning & night as I had to pray. I endured physical abuse by the Nuns & fellow survivors. I had to pray. I felt the corporal punishment sting & pain of the long black rubber strap. I had to pray. I spent many, many lonely days & nights crying quietly, as I only wanted to be home with my mom & dad….I was only 5 years old 👧🏻
🧡These days, I freely choose to pray for myself & others for continued healing, forgiveness & spiritual growth to be the Beautiful & Kind people we are all meant to be🧡"

My Mom & Dad went to Saint Francis Xavier Mission in Sturgeon Lake AB 🧡🧡 My Brother and Sisters went to Saint Bruno Mission in Joussard AB. 🧡🧡🧡
