There is wisdom in stepping away long enough to be restored.
Today I spent time in the massage chair, rested on the PEMF mat, listened to BrainTap, enjoyed a nourishing lunch, and now I’m sitting on the porch with a good book.
For years, many of us were taught that self-care was selfish. That resting meant we weren’t working hard enough. That our worth was measured by how much we could carry for everyone else.
But a well that is never replenished eventually runs dry… kind of like the land around us right now. Even mother earth is taking time to rest right now.
We cannot continually pour into our families, our communities, our businesses, and our relationships from an empty cup. The most sustainable form of service begins with stewardship of ourselves.
Rest is not laziness.
Nourishment is not indulgence.
Stillness is not wasted time.
Sometimes the most productive thing we can do is simply be.
Today, I am choosing to refill my cup so I have something meaningful to pour into those around me this afternoon.
How are you caring for yourself today?
