COULD YOUR HEADACHE ACTUALLY BE COMING FROM YOUR NECK?
Sometimes, yes.
There is actually a recognized type of headache called a cervicogenic headache—a headache in which the pain originates from structures in the neck.
It may be associated with things like:
• Neck stiffness or reduced movement
• Pain that begins around the neck or base of the skull
• Pain that travels toward the forehead, temple or around the eye
• Headache aggravated by certain neck movements or positions
But here’s the important part:
Not every headache is coming from your neck.
Headaches can have many causes—including migraine, dehydration, skipped meals, illness, medications, vision issues and other medical conditions.
That’s why evaluation matters.
When there appears to be a musculoskeletal component, gentle chiropractic care may be one part of a conservative approach.
At Brio, I use Activator Methods®, which allows me to deliver a quick, controlled adjustment without forceful twisting or turning of the neck.
Because when your head already hurts, the LAST thing you want is to be nervous about your appointment.
💛 Gentle. Precise. Thoughtful chiropractic care.
And if a headache is sudden, severe, unusual for you, follows an injury, or occurs with neurological symptoms, fever or other concerning symptoms, seek appropriate medical care.
