I used to think rest was something you earnedâŚ
..Only after everything was done, could I pause and give myself a break. I was afraid that if I stopped, I wouldnât be able to continue. But the list never ended, and neither did the tightness in my chest, neck and back. Fear persisted and played out the same story day after day.Â
Until I started to make more space to meet the pressure to perform.
You see, as we strive for more, success can start to feel shadowed by an undercurrent of urgency. A part of you working tirelessly to get it right, to prove your worth, to stay in control.
But that part is just that, a part of you, not all of you.Â
Something shifts when we learn to relate to that part with softness instead of more pressure around needing to control and force an outcome. At some point, maybe it was helpful to do this, but when it starts to take away from your ability to function, thatâs when it may be time to really make a change. You will know when it is time.Â
Internal Family Systems (IFS) offers a map of your inner world. It shows you which part of you might be afraid to fail. The part of you that is trying to stay busy to keep from being overwhelmed with emotion and intensity.Â
Somatic yoga therapy brings that map into the body by helping you sense that fear in your jaw, in your chest, and in the way you hold your breath and posture. And then offering movement to repattern the postural story and adopt a new narrative in your body, so your mind can actually update the whole system.Â
Together, these practices invite a deeper integration. Insight becomes embodied, and trust is rebuilt from the inside out.
Through breath, movement, and gentle attention, even your most protective parts can learn to soften.
