Team Ari the Brave is growing, and I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has already joined the team or donated. It means so much to our family.

The walk is now only 38 days away, and we truly can’t wait to walk together and give back to the hospital that continues to save Ari’s life—and the lives of so many other children and families.

If you’ve been thinking about joining us, I need all walkers registered by 5/14 so I can order team shirts for everyone.

And I promise… they’re cute.

This walk feels especially meaningful this year after Ari’s second emergency open heart surgery this past August. Boston Children’s Hospital has carried our family through so much over the past 12 years, and this is one small way we can give back.

If you’d like to walk with us (and get your Team Ari shirt!), you can join here:

If you’d rather support through a donation, you can do that here:

Thank you for being part of this with us. Truly.

There’s a version of “peace” that a lot of us unknowingly chase…
The one where everything goes according to plan.
Where nothing disrupts the flow.
Where life feels predictable and controlled.

But that’s not really peace.
That’s conditional comfort.

In yoga, we talk about the balance of effort and ease in the teachings of abhyasa (practice) and vairagya (non-attachment).
Practice is showing up, doing the work, building steadiness.
Non-attachment is letting go of the need for outcomes to look a certain way.

Real peace lives in that space.

It’s not about getting rid of uncertainty.
It’s about learning how to stay with yourself within it.

This is the work we practice on the mat all the time...
when a pose doesn’t go how we expected,
when balance wobbles,
when the mind gets loud.

And slowly, that skill starts to translate into real life.

So the question becomes:
Can you stay steady… even when things don’t go as planned?

That’s the practice.

If this resonates, come practice with us at The Yoga Barn.
A space to build strength, awareness, and steadiness both on and off the mat.

I‎ came‎ to‎ Good‎ Commons‎ 10‎ years‎ ago‎ on‎ a‎ retreat…
⁣and‎ I‎ remember‎ thinking:
⁣“Someday,‎ I‎ want‎ to‎ lead‎ something‎ here.”

⁣At‎ the‎ time,‎ that‎ version‎ of‎ me‎ didn’t‎ quite‎ exist‎ yet.
⁣It‎ took‎ years.
⁣It‎ took‎ growth.
⁣It‎ took‎ leading‎ smaller‎ retreats‎ first.
⁣And‎ this‎ weekend…‎ it‎ finally‎ happened.

⁣And‎ what‎ I’ve‎ learned,‎ after‎ four‎ years‎ of‎ leading‎ retreats,‎ is‎ this:
⁣Retreats‎ aren’t‎ about‎ perfect‎ schedules,‎ perfect‎ teaching,‎ or‎ perfectly‎ curated‎ experiences.
⁣They’re‎ about‎ real‎ people,‎ real‎ moments,‎ and‎ the‎ space‎ to‎ let‎ something‎ shift.

⁣Here‎ are‎ 8‎ of‎ the‎ biggest‎ lessons‎ I’ve‎ learned‎ over‎ the‎ years‎ of‎ leading‎ retreats:
⁣(keep‎ scrolling‎ →)

⁣If‎ you’ve‎ ever‎ thought‎ about‎ going‎ on‎ a‎ retreat…
⁣or‎ you’ve‎ been‎ craving‎ something‎ deeper‎ in‎ your‎ practice…

⁣This‎ is‎ what‎ we‎ do.
⁣Not‎ just‎ chromatic‎ yoga.
⁣Not‎ just‎ a‎ weekend‎ away.
⁣An‎ experience‎ that‎ stays‎ with‎ you‎ long‎ after‎ you‎ leave.

⁣Our‎ next‎ chromatic‎ yoga‎ retreat‎ is‎ already‎ in‎ the‎ works‎ for‎ 2027.
⁣Early‎ registration‎ will‎ open‎ to‎ returning‎ retreaters‎ first,‎ then‎ to‎ the‎ public.

⁣Stay‎ tuned.
⁣And‎ if‎ you‎ feel‎ the‎ pull…‎ trust‎ it.

April is all about the SHOULDERS at

It’s not just about putting your body into shapes
It’s about understanding what’s actually moving when you get there

Here’s the plan that our chromatic board put in place for us to break the month down into 4 key actions:
Week 1: shoulder flexion
Week 2: shoulder extension
Week 3: horizontal abduction
Week 4: horizontal adduction

When you start to feel these instead of just hearing them, your whole practice changes! You'll find more awareness, more intention, and more connection.

Follow along each week and start noticing what’s really happening in your body.

Please tag and collaborate with if you’re exploring with us. We love seeing your ideas and being a global community that supports and lifts each other up.

What can a tea strainer can teach us about yoga?

In my recent podcast episode, I shared this metaphor that has been sitting with me lately.

The experiences we go through in life (the joyful ones, the stressful ones, the painful ones) are like loose leaf tea.

Life itself is the boiling water.

Our practices become the strainer.

Yoga, meditation, movement, reading, friendships, community… these things give our experiences somewhere to land so they can steep into something meaningful.

Without them, life can start to feel like murky water with loose leaves floating around.

One of the ways I think about The Yoga Barn is exactly this way, a sturdy and welcoming strainer that can help hold what life pours over you.

If you're looking for supportive practices, you can practice with me in person at The Yoga Barn or online through my Bite-Sized Yoga programs.

What a winter this has been! We haven't seen this much snow in YEARS! With your own safety in my mind, I have decided to cancel all classes tomorrow. I apologize for any inconvenience, but will be spending the time shoveling out so we have spots available for parking on Tuesday morning! Stay safe, warm, and cozy. Don't forget to bend your knees when you shovel!
