It can be confusing when you are getting ready for your electrolysis or laser hair removal appointment. Do you leave the hair long? Do you shave? Wax? And how soon before should you shave? I answer all of those questions here…
Electrolysis = Shave 24-48 hours before your appointment
Laser= Shave 2-5 hours before your appointment
NEVER TWEEZE OR WAX WHEN YOU ARE UNDERGOING LASER OR ELECTROLYSIS. It will prolong the process and disrupt the hair growth cycle (thank me later for telling you 😉) Top Beauty Bar

Contrary to how it sounds when you come in, I am most definitely NOT against other forms of hair removal. I actually really like waxing for certain things. Brows are a perfect example! Laser isn’t appropriate around the eyes, and waxing is quick, inexpensive and gives you a beautiful clean shape.

But if we’re talking about unwanted facial hair, especially hair you’re constantly waxing, plucking or shaving, I think it’s worth knowing what your other options are, and I’m here to help you sort this all out.

If the hair is dark and coarse, laser can be fantastic because we can treat a larger area quickly and get significant long-term reduction.

If the hairs are blonde, white, grey or red…or you just have a handful of stubborn hairs…that’s where electrolysis shines, because we can treat hairs that laser can’t.

And sometimes waxing really IS the most practical choice. Legs, for example, are easy to shave, and someone may be perfectly happy occasionally or regularly waxing them, especially before a beach trip!

So I’m not anti-waxing at all. I’m just pro-choosing the right tool for the right hair.

Whether I’m teaching about skin care, explaining treatments, joking with my clients, baring my naked face on camera after I treat myself, or road-tripping with my hubby talking alllllll about esthetics…I never get tired of it! This crazy year so far, I moved to a new office, started over from scratch. Fell in love with the job I love EVEN MORE! Got married to my best friend. Started electrolysis again after I thought I gave it up years ago. Became a Grammy ❤️ I am beyond blessed and thankful for everything I have, every single day!
