Do you spend most of your time paying attention to what is here, or to thoughts about what might happen?

Thinking happens naturally. The question is not how to stop thinking.

The real question is: where is attention?

When attention becomes absorbed in thoughts about the future, thought begins referring to thought, prediction comments on prediction, and stories build upon stories. Same is true of attention on thoughts of the past creating a story about it.

This is often referred to as overthinking, overwhelm, and mental noise.
Without attention to thoughts of past or future, is there anything wrong with right now?

When attention moves away from the mental story and rests in what is here, the body begins to settle. Sleep becomes more natural, not something forced. There is a sense of being restored, with less involvement in worry. This shift supports many areas of life.

This work is not about controlling the mind. It is about shifting attention away from repetitive thought so that rest can return on its own. Insomnia, overwhelm, and many habits are sustained by ongoing worry.

In this conversation with Emerson, we talk about Awakeness Hypnotherapy a name coined to explain the process of awakening from the repetitive stories and thoughts of the mind.

Shifting attention in this way can end the struggle of seeking and resolve many issues by bringing clarity to the simplicity of existence. It is about realizing the freedom to live here rather than living in the stories in the mind.

This is a direct approach I have shared very little until now, and this interview offers a first look at how I move in between thoughts with clients in session to recognize what is always here.
