LTC’s Community-Based Integration participants recently took a trip to the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles!

The group enjoyed spending time at one of LA’s newest cultural destinations, taking in the striking architecture, exploring the grounds, and experiencing a new part of the community together.

Outings like these give our CBI participants opportunities to discover new places, build confidence in community settings, and enjoy shared experiences outside of their usual routines.

As DSP Appreciation Week comes to a close, we want to say one more big thank you to the incredible Direct Support Professionals who make such a difference at Lincoln Training Center.

Throughout the week, we’ve celebrated the many roles DSPs take on, the skills they bring to their work, and the impact they have on the individuals we serve. Every day, they show up with patience, compassion, creativity, encouragement, and a willingness to go the extra mile.

To all of our DSPs: thank you for the work you do, the relationships you build, and the joy and support you bring to LTC.

And thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating DSP Appreciation Week. We’re proud to recognize the people who help make our programs and community stronger every day.

One of the best ways to understand the impact of a great DSP is to hear directly from the individuals they support.

Across LTC’s programs, job coaches and DSPs help people learn new skills, work through mistakes, stay motivated, follow through on daily goals, and enjoy new experiences along the way.

What does a Direct Support Professional actually do? At Lincoln Training Center, the answer is: quite a lot!

Depending on the day and the program, that can mean teaching a new job task, helping someone navigate a community activity, encouraging self-advocacy, building confidence and communication skills, supporting wellness and safety, or adapting their approach to meet an individual’s unique needs.

This week, we’re celebrating the skill, flexibility, patience, and heart it takes to do this work well. Thank you to the DSPs who bring their expertise and plenty of cheer to LTC every day!

New friends come in all shapes and sizes! LTC’s Community-Based Integration program helps participants build confidence, independence, and meaningful connections through experiences in the wider community.

During a recent visit to the stables at Mt. San Antonio College, participants toured the grounds, met a few horses, and learned a bit about them along the way. Interacting with these gentle animals offered an opportunity to engage the senses, build trust, and feel comfortable trying something new.

With Job Coach Anna’s warmth and encouragement, everyone was able to enjoy the experience at their own pace.

Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear Lincoln Training Center shirts!

When a visitor was injured in a fall at the Enoch Safety Rest Area, LTC Porters Jose and Zack immediately stepped in to help. They administered first aid, contacted emergency services, and secured the area until paramedics arrived.

Their calm response, compassion, and quick thinking made a tremendous difference during a frightening moment. We’re proud to recognize Jose and Zack as our Heroes of the Day!

Our Community Based Integration participants beat the heat with a trip to La Habra 300 in Whittier! It was the perfect day for strikes, smiles, and a little friendly competition. 🎳

After four years with LTC, we’re saying goodbye to one of the friendliest faces around!

Gabriel joined LTC in 2022 and has served our participants with incredible patience, kindness, and care ever since. Whether working as a Job Coach or CBI Case Manager, Gabriel always took the time to get to know the people he served on a personal level.

As he begins a new chapter, we’re grateful for everything Gabriel has brought to LTC, and we know the people he served will miss him dearly.

Congratulations, Gabriel! 💙
