My friend told me she needs to "get back in the groove" with working out.
I asked what that looked like for her and — shocker — it was the usual. Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Same time. Same routine. You know, the "right" way.
And if she can't do that exact thing? Then it doesn't count and she feels like she's failing.
Which is such bu****it.
Why does consistency have to look like a perfect schedule? Why does it have to be MWF at 6am or nothing? Why can't it be Tuesday and Saturday one week, or twenty minutes when you can fit it in, or literally whatever works for your actual life?
It all counts. All of it.
Because we've been convinced that if it's not structured and perfect it doesn't matter. That if you're not following THE PLAN you're just half-assing it.
Real consistency is messy as hell. It's figuring out what works this week and adjusting when next week is completely different. It's not waiting for perfect conditions that never come.
This pizza? Me and my daughter shared it in a hotel room after all the volleyball games while she did homework and I worked. Zero planning. Zero perfection. And guess what — still fine.
Stop trying to find the groove. Just show up however you can and stop making it so damn complicated.
*NGL, if you're after some super strict goal with a deadline, then yeah, you probably need to tighten things up but for the most of us, we are simply trying to improve our health in a way that doesn't feel restrictive. That's what I'm talking about. ;)
