Mimosa, mimosa, mimosa. Everyone is talking about them - they are the IT girl of the season for sure. From an herbalist perspective, Mimosa fills a cool niche. It isn't a sedative in the way many calming herbs are. Instead of simply slowing things down, it seems to gently support the nervous system and influence neurotransmitters involved in mood and emotional resilience.

This is why herbalists have long reached for mimosa when grief feels heavy, when stress has stolen your joy, or when you're emotionally exhausted and disconnected from yourself. It's often called the "Tree of Happiness" not because it forces happiness, but because it helps create space for lightness, softness, and feeling like yourself again.

Think less "knocks you out" and more "helps you remember how to exhale." If youd like to try it, its in our Strawberry Moon and Altered States tinctures, we have less than 5 of each!

A few months ago I received some lab work that showed elevated cholesterol, glucose and cortisol spikes. I knew I needed consistency and movement in the mornings. So I bought the walking pad I had been on the fence about. I'd been going back and forth for months wondering if I'd actually use it.

Was it "cheating" when I could just go for a walk outside? But my reality here in Tennessee is 90+ summers, rain, bugs, work, and life, so those opportunities don't happen nearly as often as I'd like.

I never made rules for myself. Some days I'd walk for 3 minutes after dinner. Other days 5-10 minutes in the morning. That's it. No pressure. Then something every person who works out tells you will happen, happened...I started wanting to get on it. I stopped watching the clock and time would just fly by.

I realize this all sounds cliche and it used to drive me nuts hearing people talk about this stuff. But we really are just plants after all, we need tlc.

I started at 3 mph for 5-10 minutes, and eventually got into watching a show, taking a phone call, answering emails, or just spending time with thoughts. Eventually I found myself wanting more. I wanted to break a sweat faster. I wanted to RUN. So I upgraded to the treadmill, and now my walking pad lives at work. It folds up just as easily, takes up about the same amount of space, and now I can challenge myself.

Today I can comfortably run at 5 mph for a solid stretch, and I usually do 30 minutes of alternating running and walking intervals. People ask me all the time if a walking pad is "worth it" or "effective." My answer? It completely changed my relationship with movement.
It turned me into someone who genuinely needs to move my body every day. And I don't think I would've gotten here if I'd relied on motivation alone.

If you’re debating getting one, I hope this helps!
Both are linked in my bio, and you can use my code TORI12 for an extra $12 off. 🤍

Before Liquid IV, before Gatorade, before any of the current generation of electrolyte marketing, farmers were drinking switchel. Switchel was a drink with lots of variations, always with a base of apple cider vinegar which made it tart and refreshing, ginger for digestive stimulation and ingredients like molasses for minerals and sustained energy.

Our version, Muddy Roots, is a modern herbalist take, full of replenishment for long summer days.
Blackstrap molasses has long
been valued in folk traditions for its naturally occurring minerals. It is essentially the third boiling of sugar cane syrup, meaning most of the sugar has been removed and the minerals become highly concentrated.

It’s especially rich in:
✨iron
✨calcium
✨magnesium
✨potassium
✨manganese
✨copper

This is why herbalists traditionally used it for:
✨postpartum recovery
✨anemia support
✨depletion
✨nervous system nourishment
✨mineral replenishment

Our take, adds sassafras, sarsaparilla, dandelion, yellow dock, and ginger roots for their long history in traditional root tonics like root beer, to encourage circulation support, bitter qualities, mineral absorption and overall digestion and nourishment.
It's a concentrate, so you control the strength and flavor. A teaspoon in eight ounces of water is a starting point. Some people drink it straight. I like to make it into a little mocktail.

I am here to try to inspire your morning routine. It’s been around a year or more for me and I hope I never stop. I used to wake up feeling like I had been hit by a bus most days. Texting my friends, asking if it was normal to feel that way. Almost everyone I knew had some sort of movement practice in their week and it just felt so unattainable for me as a biz owner and homesteader. I also HATED doing it. Until I tried… Now 5:30 a.m. is my magic hour. It is the part of the day I protect most and truly sets the bar for the rest of my day.

It sounds crazy until you do it. And it feels so good, it won’t be hard to commit to, I promise.
I wake up and immediately drink a full glass of water with creatine, collagen & psyllium husk. Then i make my coffee, usually with a lil mushroom drinking chocolate or ghee, sit with my kitty Marvin & my heeler Olin and if it’s nice outside I do this on the porch and get my sunlight.

Movement comes next. My minimum is ten minutes, but honestly it usually stretches to thirty or more. I might get on the treadmill, stretch & meditate in front of my red light, sometimes I’m inspired to hold a plank for 2 minutes, sometimes I get a wild hair and do a 20 minute isa welly Pilates video. Or just stretch and breathe and be still for a little while. On a good morning I squeeze in some body care like dry brushing, a little self massage, body oiling.

Eat! I’m a huge fan of eating. Lately I’ve been eating a breakfast cookie. I just kind of throw the kitchen sink into these. Bananas, dates, coconut, flax, oats, eggs, almond flour, psyllium husk, almond butter, chocolate, whatever! Bake for 20 minutes at 350.

Chores! I do them with care. I always make my bed, I love a cozy tidy room. Right now I water seeds in the plant room, check all the animals’ food and water, take extra time outside with our chickens and Pyrenees, and water the garden if needed.

If you're heading out on an adventure this summer, these are probably are two most adventure ready products. Its part of the magic or a light-weight powder tube. AND the magic of how multifunctional herbs are.

No fear of liquid leaks, they’re about the size of a deck of cards and they hold up fine getting tossed around in a pack. Bonus tip - We stick a cotton ball in between the sifter and the lid for even more protection.

Powder to Foam is a multipurpose hair, face and body cleanser, activated by any water source. Desert Dweller dry shampoo and body powder helps keep you fresh and dry between washes. GREAT for hiking and camping.

These two are ready for all your summer adventures whether that looks like a carry-on, or a weeklong backpacking trip.

Both are available online and at the Apothecary year round!
