You know, I'm not saying anything brilliant here. It's mostly just simple obvious stuff. But it needs to be said.

To not say it seriously overestimates the intelligence of the American public. They have shown very clearly that they just don't think.

There you have it, more elitist liberal, progressive attitude.

Hi Everyone: Connie Bollinger here bringing you news of John and his bout of ill-health. You may have noticed he hasn't been sending out Thoughts lately. He's been fighting a virus that settled in his mouth on his soft palate. He's on the mend but after a week he's still in pain but at least he can eat some semi-soft solids. This has wiped him out but he'll be back soon. Healing thoughts are requested.

Consensus

There is such a difference between working by consensus and working by majority rule.

Consensus is cooperation, the building of bridges, actions that lead to understanding.

Majority rule tends to create power plays, politics, and the concepts of victory and defeat.

It replaces the king with a committee, but doesn't kill despotism.

We can operate by consensus much more than we think. Everyone really wants to problem solve, to find the best solution. But when we become accustomed to the war zone we think the ideal is to be a good soldier.

That game is not worth the candle.

There is no reason to fight. We can walk away to a more peaceful world.

In that is abundance.

We are not cave dogs fighting for scraps anymore.

I'm looking for love.

Come over here.

Speak of healing.

The Space Between the Waves

The world is too much with us.
Wordsworth

To return to the past, to go back two, three hundred years, simply go deep into the woods, climb a mountain, look at the ocean. Or close your eyes and enter into the inner space of peace and silence.

Nothing has changed.

If the world is too much with us it is because we are carrying it around on our backs.

It's about choices.

Choose the constant overstimulation of the modern world and you can be smack in the middle of hell.

Choose moments of prayer and meditation and you will know peace.

Ever has it been so that the pace of civilization is too great for the spirit to deal with. The collective is inherently chaotic, even in the good old days of yore.

In each epoch, in each moment, it is for us to find our peace.
So what we are longing for has been beside us, inside us all along.

Then we become the space between the waves.

Knowing Love

Whole love is unperturbable and very rare. What we see and experience is usually some fraction of love, some partial expression, hope, or desire for love. Even in that is healing.

But there is also the fatal flaw. Idealism, the love of perfect love, can become bitter, disillusioned by expectations of perfection.

Wanting too much, demanding too much, often blinds us to what is already beautiful.

Many of the great philosophers, flooded with love, sought ways to bring the truth they felt in their hearts into a full fleshed and rigorous discipline, undisputable truth and love, proven for all to see that none would be able to successfully assault the castle of their logic.

Trying to control love, to channel it, we limit it. Only by opening ourselves completely do we experience, gratefully, the fraction as the whole.

This is not stupid as some have suggested. You don't lie down in front of a moving truck or hand the loaded gun back to the thief. What a crazy idea, to think love would do that.

Love nurtures and strengthens. It nurtures the intelligence and doesn't wander blindly.

Love is the supreme value and in the final analysis love is still standing when all else has failed.

You who know love know this.

No Question

There's always a way to avoid a fight.

Anger is a call for healing, not to escalate to rage, revenge, or destruction.

Pain tells us to take our finger off the stove, not to pick up a baseball bat and batter the stove.

Same thing with stress. It's a signal.

Efficiency in life is not to battle against the odds. It is to go with the flow.

Find ways to dissipate stress, heal your hurts. Then you become more efficient, not wasting time in futile psychic warfare.

That's just practical spirituality. Raging lunatics don't accomplish much.

So if you are even a fraction of a raging lunatic you're wasting precious time.

Then prayer, mediation, and stillness become the most important things you can do, much more urgent than stewing, smoldering, or smashing.

There is no question. Love is the answer.
