I get asked a lot about WHY I started Clay Scoliosis Clinic.
My summary statement is:
SERVE AT WORK, BE PRESENT AT HOME
The journey began trying to fix me! My scoliosis was too minor to get treatment as a teen, but enough to cause symptoms as an adult. It kicked off a journey that lead me to specializing in physical therapy for scoliosis! Just by learning to change my posture I can prevent numbness/tingling in my right leg and live life without issues!
After I had my first daughter I realized that I couldn't work full time. I also realized my brain would explode if I tried to be the best at EVERYTHING as a generalist. It was not a good feeling being just ok at a lot of things when I wanted to give my clients the best, but couldn't. So why not focus part time, on just ONE thing?
Well the thing I wanted to do didn't exist on the terms I wanted to keep balance with my work and family/faith goals. Thus Clay Scoliosis Clinic!
The world told me I couldn't change my scoliosis (check out my xrays in the next pic). It also told me I couldn't specialize in scoliosis care without working full time, but I'm always up for a challenge 😉
It is an honor to be a part of our clients' success stories. We have been able to help kids/teens avoid spinal surgery, aid moms with small children overcome pain, guide grandparents in improving mobility to engage with their grandkids, train athletes to persevere in their sport, assist hurting individuals to reclaim their social lives, and promote positive body image in all ages.
Our clinic provides a place of community and hope for people who have long felt isolated. We get to change the narrative that "nothing can be done for scoliosis" and instill an empowered role with spinal health!
It's an amazing blessing to do work that counts and helps people thrive. And what a praise that beauty has been made out what started as thorn in my own story!
Thanks for reading!
PS: Yes, I am very pregnant with baby girl #3 😊 Poor Mr. Bennet/Clay
