The birth didn’t go the way she had planned… but this mama was absolutely incredible. 🤍
She spent her entire pregnancy preparing for a VBA2C. She educated herself, prepared her body and mind, and carried so much hope for the birth she desired.
Then, she went into preterm labor.
Her providers ultimately determined that a cesarean was the safest option for her and baby girl, and things moved fast once this decision was made. While she understood that safety came first, that didn’t mean she didn’t have to grieve the birth she had prepared for and wanted so deeply.
And that grief deserves space, too.
I wasn’t able to make it to her birth, but I was able to come support her that afternoon. We talked through her birth, processed what happened, and made space for both the joy of her beautiful baby girl AND the loss of the birth she had envisioned.
Two things can be true.
She can be thankful her baby is here safely AND grieve her birth experience.
She can understand why a cesarean was necessary AND still feel disappointed.
She can be strong AND need support processing it all.
And this mama? She was so incredibly strong and brave. ❤️
And her baby girl came into this world just as fiercely as her mama fought for her.
I’m so honored I could sit beside this mama and hold space for her.
Welcome earthside, sweet baby girl ❤️
