Most players assume pain means something suddenly went wrong. In reality, the issue has often been building for weeks or months before it finally gets your attention.
A little stiffness after games becomes knee pain. A shoulder that feels tight starts limiting your serve. A nagging back issue makes you hesitate during movements that used to feel natural.
The problem is that the painful area is not always the source of the problem. Many pickleball injuries are the result of movement restrictions, strength deficits, or compensation patterns elsewhere in the body. Over time, those issues force another area to absorb more stress than it was designed to handle.
That is why rest, ice, and temporary fixes rarely solve the problem long term. The real question is not "Where does it hurt?" It is "Why is it hurting in the first place?"
At Sampsell Physical Therapy & Functional Wellness, we take a whole-body approach to uncover what is driving the problem so you can move better, recover faster, and get back on the court with confidence.
