🌹 The Erotic as a Source of Power 🌹
Sharing some of the grounding text behind our Sacred Erotic Reclamation Retreat this June at — Audre Lorde’s “Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power” (1978).
Both (Chetna Mehta) and I knew the risk of putting EROTIC in the title. It’s a misused, misunderstood word. And it was still exactly the word we wanted for the work we’re bringing to Kripalu.
The surging power of creation we’ve been told to suppress. The indescribable yearning that rises from the body. The collision of ideas, bodies, and thoughts that gives rise to entirely new understandings of what’s real.
This is the power of the Erotic.
This is what future creation requires.
It may feel provocative — good. We want to provoke something dormant in all of us. Your creative genius — whether or not you call yourself “a Creative” — is waiting for you to take center stage in your own life as an act of creation.
No one else can live this life for you. Eros is calling, to activate something joyous and expansive in each of us, now.
