Monday's Moments that Matter!
My mom, Jeanne Campbell, has always loved storms. When they'd come, we'd be rushed outside to greet them.
So when my cousin, Joe Campbell, was visiting this weekend, and a storm started brewing, I pushed us outside to watch it come in, and headed to the landing by the lake.
As we stood there, watching the rain really start coming down and feeling the wind really picking up, Joe looked at me and said,
"Hmmm... Do you think we should go inside?"
With 100% hubris I replied,
"I've never actually been struck by lightening, and don't know anyone who has, but sure, we can go inside."
And back up the stairs and inside we went.
I couldn't help it though; and was drawn back outside and onto the porch. Honestly, I thought about going back to the landing. And then I heard the loudest thunder I've ever experienced in my life, and saw the closest bolt of lightening I've ever seen. It looked like fire!
No, I did not get hit and I'm guessing the lake didn't either. But it was a good reminder of the power of Mother Nature, and that my hubris really can put me in harms way.
It was also a lovely moment of remembering great times with my mom, and creating great new times with my cousin!
Hope you have a great week!
