I used to think feeling worse after exercise meant I was just out of shape.
So I pushed.
Then I crashed.
Then I felt guilty for needing rest.
And the cycle kept repeating.
The fitness world tells us soreness means progress, but it rarely explains the difference between muscle soreness and a flare-up.
Soreness feels like your muscles worked.
A flare-up feels like your whole system got overloaded.
More fatigue.
More pain.
Brain fog.
Poor sleep.
That heavy, inflamed, “why do I feel sick after trying to be healthy?” feeling.
That is not weakness.
That is your body giving you information.
The goal is not to survive a workout.
The goal is to choose movement your body can recover from, repeat, and build on.
That is how strength comes back.
