The most common question we get: "How does this actually work?"

So here's the honest version, step by step:
⚡ It starts with a free 30-minute call. No commitment, no pressure — just a conversation about what's bringing you in and whether brain training might be a fit for the symptoms that you're trying to improve.

⚡ From there, if it feels right, you will come into our office to get your brain mapped. This is a 90-minute appointment where we look at how your brain is currently regulating itself, where it's working hard, and where it could use some support. After a couple of days, you'll get a written report walking you through what we found.

Your body is keeping the score.
Before you can name the feeling of stress and tension, your body can feel it. The shoulders that won't drop. The jaw you didn't realize you were clenching until it started to ache. The headache that arrives around 2pm like it has a calendar invite.

Most of us learn to manage stress from the outside in. Stretching. Applying cold, then heat. Adding magnesium. Getting massages when we can. Practicing breathing exercises in the car before the next thing.

These are all likely to help in part. But the results are not likely to last very long. That's because the tension isn't the root cause. Tension is one of the body's responses to a very active brain that hasn't switched off.

There's a version of burnout that doesn't really look like burnout from the outside.

It might look like getting it all done. Holding it all together. Being the one person that people count on. Saying yes when you should have said no, and not knowing how to stop.

And then there's the version of burnout that involves extreme overwhelm, exhaustion and dysregulation. Where the smallest thing feels like too much. Where you're tired before the day starts.

Both experiences of burnout are result of overworking the same nervous system, of being stuck in the same pattern. These brains have been switched on for too long and don't know how to come back down to baseline.

The path to recovery from burnout isn't just about doing less work or taking more

When you're feeling dysregulated, it helps to have a few tools on hand that can reset your nervous system.

Each of these works with the same pathways your body uses to move from stress into calm. The body already knows how. Sometimes it just needs a short pause and a reminder.

Research continues to support these tools. A 2025 meta-analysis found that laughter-based interventions significantly reduced symptoms of depression, anxiety, and stress, and similar evidence supports the role of vagal tone, breath regulation, and bilateral stimulation in nervous system recovery.
